July 26, 201312 yr I use UT2, but I think it's important to note that not all paint schemes are included. These latter airlines are displayed in the "Daedalus" colour scheme, which is a kind of default paint scheme. Frankly, I do not want to see imaginary airlines in FSX, so I always disable the Daedalus planes. However, that leaves you with a problem. It means that some of the aircraft that should be there are missing! The solution is to identify those airlines that are missing (and that you want to see), and then look for suitable AI planes and colour schemes that can be downloaded, and then integrated into UT2. The World of AI packages are a good place to start for this, provided that you don't mind flight plans that are (in some cases) a few years old. This seems a daunting task at first sight, particularly if you want to add missing airlines from all around the world. I only fly in the UK, which means that I only had to identify those airlines that visit the UK that were missing from the UT2 database, but it has still taken me some time to do this. I occasionally update a particular airline with new paint schemes and flightplans, but I do not worry about having the very latest flightplans for every single airline. I just want a representation of those airlines that operate in the UK. I am now very happy with my updated UT2 database. I also have other flightplans (particularly military) that use the normal "BGL file" method, and these work alongside the UT2 flightplans very nicely. I also have other flightplans (particularly military) that use the normal "BGL file" method, and these work alongside the UT2 flightplans very nicely. UT2 also lacks UPS and FedEX, even in the Daedalus paint scheme. My solution has been similar in that I use the WOAI aircraft and the bgl flight plans for the cargo carriers. At some point I will integrate them into UT2 using Power Pack. Ernie
July 26, 201312 yr I have added UPS and Fedex flightplans (and a handful of other cargo airlines) to UT2, but I am only interested in the flights that visit the UK. July 26, 201312 yr Author I have seen the "Daedalus" planes at the gates and wondered what they were, So its fine to use World of AI for cargo planes as well as Ultimate Traffic 2? All these traffic options do get very confusing. My youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/c/Dkentflyer
July 26, 201312 yr For payware -- Flight1 Ultimate Traffic 2 Freeware - World of AI - one of the best even compared to some paywares. I personally switch between UT2 and WOAI. - - Tommy - -
July 26, 201312 yr Commercial Member Global Ai Traffic the best by far, check it out Global AI traffic is just collection of World Of AI packages and bunch of freeware flightplans, models and textures downloaded from Avsim and elsewhere and put into one package without permission from those who made those repaints, models and flightplans. It violates copyrights, thus you really shouldn't support those who created it by downloading it. I find UT2 just perfect now after a lot of hard work it took to replace all Daedalus with proper paints & install over 20 airlines it missed by default. When I have more time I think I will search for even more airlines to install using power pack to make it even better.
July 26, 201312 yr I use UT2, since I like to fly jets, usually have that tops at 60%, if you are going to fly into major cities, like JFK or lax, expect performance issues possibly, might have to run less than 50% with UT2, but you do get enough traffic to make it realistic, and keep you busy.
July 26, 201312 yr I am using UT2 with MyTrafficX models, since UT2 misses a lot of liveries for airlines around the world. MyTraffic has the bigger variety as compared to UT2. UT2 also is lower on framerates as compared to MyTraffic since it injects less aircraft due to the fact that they are using real world schedules which MyTraffic doesn't (correct me if I'm wrong!). July 27, 201312 yr I purchased "My Traffic X 5.4" some time ago only because many of the WOAI's paints were not DX10 compatible. If they were, I would have most probably stayed with WOAI. WOAI's level of detailing is significantly higher than MTX5.4. There are some MTX5.4 models that were improved with the last update (such as the Boeing 737s) and are a big welcome, but most of the airliners and Military aircraft and all of the GA aircraft are just too simplified graphic-wise and look rather bad, in my opinion. Many flight simmers will state that performance over eye candy is key, when referring to AI traffic. I can understand their point of view but I will accept a small FPS hit if it meant getting higher detailed models. To me, part of the FSX enjoyment is taxing to and from a gate or parking spot and enjoying the scenery, of which traffic AI is a significant part of. On my system, the aircraft also "flash" when changing LODs. That can get a little annoying. MTX5.4 does include military aircraft, which can be cool, but way overdone, in my opinion. There are just TOO many mil flights all over the place and perhaps I'm being too picky but the most airbases show too big of a variety of aircraft, which are not accurate to the particular airbases. I also notice that GA aircraft are commonly flying at ridiculously high altitudes, which can be amusing at times. Cessna 172s flying at above 18,000 feet is not a rare sight. But balancing the above out is the fact that MTX5.4 has a huge amount of aircraft available and fairly accurate flight plans. All manner of airports are busy and full of AI arriving and departing. Also, there are airlines and models depicted that are not found in most of the other AI traffic programs. That is always cool to see when flying into some remote airports. Setup is also super easy. I understand that the developer is a single person who has dedicated himself to providing a high FPS traffic AI and it's truly a labor of love. I do appreciate this and will continue using the product for some time to come. I need to look into the manual further and see if there is a way of tweaking the Mil AI down a bit, as well as a few other things. Alexander Alonso
