July 28, 201312 yr Havw fsx on a Crucial M4. Loading times are better but no difference to in game performance.

I would agree to this 2+ years ago but current quality SSDs are very reliable.

Windows Temp file directories moved to another hard disk. Page file on other hard disk. Google Earth cache on other hard disk. Adobe Lightroom cache on other hard disk. Minimal writes to my SSD. No problems. More on how to setup an OS on SSD here: http://www.simforums.com/forums/the-fsx-computer-system-the-bible-by-nickn_topic46211.html ^_^
July 31, 201312 yr I had fsx installed on SSD, but i needed more space for addons. So now i have OS on SSD and FSX on good 1TB WD. I can't see any difference in FSX performance, only 2 "general" differences - slower initial loading on fsx startup and wasting time on HDD defragmentation periodically. But i can live with that taking in account SSD price Zeljko Budovic
July 31, 201312 yr I'm happy to have everything on one larger SSD for ease of clones/backups, though I haven't determined if cloning SSD<>HDD is as simple as HDD<>HDD was using Ghost or Seagate Disk Wiz. Hard to beat the exceedingly fast load times of everything. I was originally going to page to a ramdrive however after observing there is truly no page file writing happening I've just fixed the pagefile to 1Gb and left it on the SSD. Can I ask, what is the Windows Temp file employed in, or what is its file location so that I can see if it is being written to? C:\Windows\Temp? July 31, 201312 yr Noel, Windows uses the temp folder C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\Temp AppData is a hidden folder so you need to change a setting in Explorer to show hidden files and folders to be able to see it. Visit simforums and read Nicks bible on how to set upp a system for more information on how to setup SSDs in Windows. ^_^

August 1, 201312 yr I launched fsx from my back up hard drive today instead of from the SSD BIG difference in load times! ZORAN
