July 27, 201312 yr Just thought I'd share a few images I got of my trip to Dubai onboard Emirates A380-861 A6-EEG (only 1 month old at the time) routing MAN-DXB! Boarding! Pushed back. Flaps retracted and taxing, they are huge and noisy! These wings are also built here in the UK about 30 miles from Manchester! Almost at 23R, behind a BA 320. And up we go! This aircraft really does catch the wind! The M6 motorway just below the wing as we had out towards Warrington before the big right turn to head East. The Cabin. Enjoying an episode of Top Gear whilst watching the onboard camera! The touch screen remote, which also doubled up as a way of seeing where you were, it could also show the inflight cameras! Sunset over Turkey. Inflight map, at this point we were in the hold for landing in Dubai. Final approach on the camera which resulted in a beautifully smooth landing. And that is it The A380 is a truly game changing aircraft, I've travelled on the 744/777/A330/A340 and nothing beats this, next up is the 787 sometime! Lawrence Ashworth
August 12, 201312 yr Incredible! I really like the fact that they let all the passengers enjoy the camera's! How was it in Dubai?

August 14, 201312 yr Awesome pictures...up until 04 I had been plane spotting at Manchester Airport for years, it always amazed me to see a 747 passing by the airport pub over by 23R. I flew on the 380 for the first time in July 2010 with Air France, amazing aircraft but I still prefer the 747!
August 19, 201312 yr Awesome shots Lawrence! I only wish I had as good a quality camera as yours. I just returned from a vacation in India, and intend to post my flight pics soon, but they were from an old point and shoot Olympus 7.1 megapixel, and its hard to get clear shots though those thick paned aircraft windows :< A.J. August 20, 201312 yr Author NGXfanatic - I shoot with a near 10 year old 350D which is 8MP on the stock 18-5mm lense that normally comes with a Canon camera, I also have a 75-300mm which only gets pulled out for spotting. You can usually pick up that kit for around $150 at the very most. it's easy to look to the newest cameras but unless you plan to shoot professionally there are so many well looked after older models you can find on Ebay or similar that do the same job. With DSLR's you'll find it's the quality of the lense that does 90% of the work anyway so it's quite easy to get good quality images, even a point and shoot like yours I'm sure will of given great images. August 20, 201312 yr Great photos, but I fail to understand how A380 is game changing aircraft? I have had the same experience with other aircraft (A330 for example). Nowdays economy cabin is more or less same at all aircraft. Lj. Prodanovic
August 20, 201312 yr Author Great photos, but I fail to understand how A380 is game changing aircraft? I have had the same experience with other aircraft (A330 for example). Nowdays economy cabin is more or less same at all aircraft. To compare with standard economies, I flew on a BA 744 to Miami two years ago which was awful, the return was on an AA 738 and then across the Atlantic on a 752 which was all average. Last year I flew on a Thomson 767 to Mexico which was better but again all the same and as expected but the A380 really blew me away. I'm around 6ft and usually my knees and elbows run out of room and that didn't happen on this flight, especially next to the window, maybe it would of been different in the aisle? Instead of a typical wall and a window configuration, the wall arches kind of where the window is giving so much more space. The overhead lockers are also offset more towards the centre and are a lot higher up but designed intelligently giving more headroom. I have never before been able to stand up in my seat on an aircraft and I could on the A380. On the return leg flying on a 773 the 2 of us were extremely lucky to have 3 seats available to us by the window again and it still just wasn't as comfortable. it was also so much more noisier (luckily I love those GE-90's ). Basically if you didn't know anything about airplanes you could be on anything and wouldn't know but I think someone would definitely remember the A380, the Emirates offering felt so much more like a premium economy product so I'd definitely say it has changed the game a lot and sets high standards for new aircraft. I have yet to try the 787 but will be hoping on doing so sometime before the end of the year with BA. It would be great to compare the two but I'd definitely recommend EK to anyone and can't see anything beating the level of comfort you got for what is an economy seat. Lawrence Ashworth
August 20, 201312 yr Thank you for that comprehensive answer, and I do recommend EK too, I have flown on EK A330, it's a great service, great plane, and terminal 3 at Dubai is one of a kind - beautiful. (Just try to avoid Terminal 2, they call it "the horror terminal" with good reason  ) Lj.
