November 2, 200421 yr bottom line....Printed manual or not...If you skip the Flight1 ATR, you are missing out on the most comprehensive addon built for FS2004 period.
November 2, 200421 yr If you think you are going to get this plane with a printed, bound glossy 500 page manual for 50 dollars you are dreaming. The book itself would be 50 bucks at least I'd be willing to bet. Theres a reason most devs don't include those big manuals anymore. In fact, even back when they were including manuals I more often than not found them useless becuase they were printed in tiny fonts and were cheaply bound paperbacks - like the manuals with the Janes sims for instance.
November 2, 200421 yr If there is one you were waiting to buy then this certainly would be it. Now PIC v2 is about to come out too, that one will also rate with this ATR IMO. WHat that means is run don't walk to purchase this wonderful plane. It's very complex but after spending a little time you are compelled to learn how to operate it correctly. My hats are off to flight 1, you guys came through and exceeded what I thought would be produced. Best Wishes,
Randy J. November 2, 200421 yr I'm thinking of getting it, but was wondering is the panel/operations more complex than Matthias Lieberech's Project BAE Panel Project? The simple reason I ask is that that panel is as complicated as I can handle, anything more and I'll never get off the ground:-) Manny Patel
November 2, 200421 yr I don't know about BAE Panel Project however I think your fear is unfounded. First, through configuartion utility you can either start with dark/cold cockpit, the one with ground power already connected (passengers boarding) or the one ready to taxi. Your choice. Also even starting with dark/cold was not a big problem for me to figure out - even with no reference to the manual.Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2 Michael J.
November 2, 200421 yr I just printed the tutorial flights, I don't need the manuel printed cause I only use it for reference. I am not going to read it like a novel! ZZZZZZZZZZ! The tutorials explain everything I needed to get up and flying. If I wanted more info on a system then I would just go to computer screen to look at that section.
November 2, 200421 yr To the guys who where asking about the ATR 72 crash which killed 68 people. It was caused by(from the ATSB report)an ice build up behind the wing de-ice boot which created what is known as an ice ridge. This eventually caused a sudden rollover when the autopilot could no longer hold the wings level as the ailerons where being caused to move by the pressure created by the ice ridge. When the A/P kicked out under load the aircraft rolled suddenly became inverted and flew basically straight down into the ground from 8000-9000'.The report required ATR(who thought the report was incorrect even though testing done by the ATSB proved this could happen with air tests involving an ATR72 and a tanker aircraft spraying water) to extend the leading edge boot back across the wing by 50% of its original size to some 12.5% of the wings chord. There is also a fair bit of conjectue that another accident in Italy may have been caused by a similar conditions. The design of the aerofoil section was a major factor in the effect of the ice ridge effect. As the crews from American Eagle stated after the accident to their customers ""...If the weather is clear this winter, sit back and relax because this is a good aircraft. If the weather is cloudy, snowy, or cool and rainy, think about alternate transportation methods..."And that was coming from the guys who fly the things for a living.ATR's no thanks,i'll stick with the Dash.Darren
November 3, 200421 yr AMEN...why is someone getting so much grief, for WISHING for a manual???These are STRANGE times.bt
November 3, 200421 yr There IS a manual, that's why. Do you know ANY dowloaded program that provides an actual 300+ page manual that is sent to you via regular mail? This is not about a manual that is clear, this is about one's desire for something more, that is ok too but either you like what is offered or you don't, no one forces anyone to purchase or not. Best Wishes,
Randy J. Smith
http://www.rawbw.com/~bdoolin/shinault/southparkcartmad.gif
I WANT MY 747!
Caution! Not a real pilot, but do play one on TV ;-) Randy J Smith
November 3, 200421 yr Yes exactly. And I choosed to buy Wings of Power with 153 page manual and will skip this one because I can
November 3, 200421 yr PMDG does not have a manual for it's downloaded programs (not an actual book) but it's CD versions do, I think it is clear why this is so. Another example would be Half Life 2 which I purchased from STEAM (http://www.steampowered.com/, I get no CD, no manual or pretty box but do get the game the instant it is on the shelves. Still it cost me 50 bucks, it's all about how much one desires something..Best Wishes,
Randy J. Smith
http://www.rawbw.com/~bdoolin/shinault/southparkcartmad.gif
I WANT MY 747!
Caution! November 3, 200421 yr I'd love to know how much the ATR would be with a 500pg printed manual. If you think it is more expensive to print your own then, honestly, you don't know what you are talking about.Do you have any idea how much it would cost to ship a product with a 500pg manual? Don't forget to factor in weight.Cheaper then doing it yourself. LOLThat's a good one. *:-* Ark -------------------------- I9 9900K @ 5ghz / 32GB G.Skill (Samsung B) / Aorus Master Mobo / EVGA GTX 2080Ti FTW 3
