August 9, 201312 yr The thruth is, nothing can yet substitute the extension / coverage / detail / usability of the MSFS platform. jcomm, just curious, are you gonna sell your copy of XPX....again? August 9, 201312 yr jcomm, just curious, are you gonna sell your copy of XPX....again? Got a friend that may be interested. No way! I do like X-Plane 10, and intend to continue using it, in parallel with p3d, elite and dcs world. I still look fwd for a promissing future for this sim. I believe in it, and I appreciate some important aspects of the simulator, but I just can't, contrarily to what I'd seriously prefer to be able to do, use it as my only flight simulator, when there are so many positive and also appealing aspects on those other platforms. Of course the new toy ( FTX Global, and somehow FSGRW too) have contributed to make p3d even more interesting to use, but for instance if it's a rotary wing that I want to fly, or even the Seneca, the mu-2, the a380, the as-350b3, and in the future the Saab 340, the b373-300, the updated Baron 58 and DC-3, then it's x-plane 10 the sim I use. As a matter of fact, for rotary wings I can only use X-Plane 10 or DCS World ( there's nothing coming closer to it in fsx / p3d as far as I am aware...). So, don't take my critics as me giving up on X-plane10 - no, that was a rather STUPID decision in the past...) Today at another forum where I was talking about how much I appreciated using FTX Global, I commented that being also a devoted X-Plane 10 user ( which I am after all... ), I didn't like ORBX's comments on that sim, and would rather prefer that they could change their minds and consider some sort of FTX for X-Plane 10 :-) OTOH, I didn't forget Robert Randazzo's words about their plans to support the X-Plane10 platform. I am sure that once they make their first product announcement we will all feel even better about the future of this sim. Then, let's not forget that X-Plane10 is also, together with FlightGear, the only simulator that allows for our friend simmers not on Windoze to be able to profit from a powerful flight simulator platform! My comments meant to express: 1) For me X-Plane10 can't substitute P3D, but so can't P3D substitute X-Plane10, yet... 2) I feel that there is still a long way to walk before we start having a comparable universe of add-ons on both simulators. We still lack a good airliner, plausible ATC, AI, etc... So, Pirata, I plan to be around here for as long as Austin keeps X-Plane alive :-) Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
August 9, 201312 yr So, Pirata, I plan to be around here for as long as Austin keeps X-Plane alive :-) Just teasing jcomm! (I couldn't resist)...lol I'm also thinking of giving P3D a test drive once v2 comes out. FSX is out of the question cause even though I never had any issues with OOM, etc, I just couldn't get it to perform to my satisfaction. I've read post about P3d being better in this subject but I'm going to hold my wings 'till v2 comes out and wait for feedback from people like you, Five and others. Don't get me wrong, I really like XP and so far it's my only and preferred sim (this may change if P3D lives up to the hype), but I'm also getting tired of waiting without knowing what's going on and what's ahead. Carlos it's fun to have both sims plus P3D is a better FSX. It's like FSX with a 3rd Huge Patch/Update :good:
August 9, 201312 yr jcomm, with this topic, you may have done more to advance the hobby than you may know. thanks! My MSFS 2020 repaints: Flightsim.to - Profile of HStreet Working on MSFS 2024 versions.

Carlos I feel exactly the same. When I joined the dark side of XP a few months ago the forum was buzzing with news and updates and it seemed like the sim had real forward momentum. Recently that seems to have fizzled out somewhat which is disappointing. Aerosoft's support was another plus but they don't seem to be in a hurry to release too much. P3D is very much on my radar, especially now FTXG is making the ground textures more believable (an area XP is really poor in in a lot of countries), but I don't know if I can go back to a sim that does its clouds in 2D and has no shadows (or badly rendered DX10 shadows) in the cockpit or from autogen. Decisions decisions... i910900k, RTX 3090, 32GB DDR4 RAM, AW3423DW, Ruddy girt big mug of Yorkshire Tea

Decisions decisions... use both, xp10 does have amazing lighting effects. I love both my kids: p3d & xp10  XP10 is still my main choice because I love the HDR Lighting but right now i'm flying P3D because of FTX Global. It revived the old 32bit man down the street XP10 will eventually get to the point where we will have everything FSX/P3d has.
August 10, 201312 yr five by five, really appreciate your opininons as well about the sims. My MSFS 2020 repaints: Flightsim.to - Profile of HStreet Working on MSFS 2024 versions.
August 10, 201312 yr five by five, really appreciate your opininons as well about the sims. I too, like open minded opinions. We end up knowing more about the current state of various sims, than we did yesterday, let alone five years ago, if that's when we left it. I prefer knowing where a particular sim excels. As an example, the night lighting in XP-10, as listed by Five by Five. Okay, so I don't go for this .... moving to whatever sim, and never looking back......stuff. Of course, the old saying is true, "you won't miss it, if you've never had it".
August 10, 201312 yr I too, like open minded opinions ... As opposed to opinionated opinions .. Okay, so I don't go for this .... moving to whatever sim, and never looking back......stuff. aha ... this is a closed minded opinion .. So .. you've a closed minded opinion that goes for open minded opinions and doesn't go for opiniated opinions ... unless they're yours ... I think I got it!

August 10, 201312 yr Is P3D DX10 compatible? I've been looking at some of the FTXG pictures and I must admit it really looks awesome. How're the blurries compared to FSX? five, jcomm, robert, anybody?
