Using Shade for FSX can fix that. It will make the shadows darker, much nicer in my opinion.

If I understand it correctly Shade influences the light and shadows of the environment and terrain only; it doesn't add or subtract anything in terms of autogen or cockpit shadows. So from the VC, you'll still lack any contrast between light and dark as the sun moves around your cockpit and fails to produce shadows at the bottom of your dials, and the feeling of being in a 2D world will still be there.

If DX11 in P3D brings shadows and more stable performance at higher resolutions, I'll jump ship in a heartbeat. If I have the money that is...

If DX11 in P3D brings shadows and more stable performance at higher resolutions,

Is DX11 confirmed to be included on the next update?

It will definitely be interesting to see what "the other platform" will bring with DX11. Interesting indeed!!

It should be good but we'll have to wait and see if it's worth upgrading to.

If it is successful Flight1 will have to change its policies or lose out to a potentially large market.

Charging 2x the price for a product because it's P3D will not cut it with the punters.

I'm almost sure P3D v2 will be a success, which put's me in a Ferrari and a Lamborghini by the end of this year, begining 2014, plus the Mazerati and the RR...

X-Plane10, P3D v2, DCS World, ELITE Premium :-)))))))))))))

Am I the only super-happy simmer in the World?

Dave, am I reading right? Is P3D thinking of charging for v2 upgrade?

It's going to be a huge upgrade. They're basicallly creating a new platform, with independent scenery, FDM, intruments, components for the future intergration of complex products.

I'd say you're paying just like we paid to upgrade from xp9 to xp10, and one of these days to xp11....

Not being 64 bit isn't really a problem as far as I'm concerned. The P3D we already have is stable and performs perfectly with even highly detailled add-ons, provided you don't fill it with zillions of scenery add-ons, AI traffic, etc...

But even in X-Plane10, if you ask for 10 AI aircraft and use OSM-based scenery at crowded cities, the fps will drop to single digits easily :-/

Ahh, I see, so in a way its not really an upgrade but complete new version. Well in that case it does make sense. I'll keep a eye on all the feedback once v2 is released.

thx jcomm.

Hi Carlos, no I was actually referring to Flight1's policy of (for example) the iFly 737NG:

http://www.flight1.com/products.asp?product=iflyfsx

http://www.flight1tech.com/Products/AircraftSimulations/737NGforPrepar3D.aspx

FSX= $54.95

P3D= $79.95

Exactly the same product. (hiss, boo etc)

they also had a limited time upgrade price(for FS9/FSX buyers) several months ago for $19.99 or $29.99 for the IFLY P3D version.

Exactly my point Five, asking people to cough up when most other developers provide compatibility at no extra cost.

I think that fact that PMDG will not make the NGX for P3D (even though it works anyway) that it was seen as a nice potential earner.

Anyway off-topic!! ;)
