August 10, 201312 yr I guess I feel the same, but really is that good enough when you're talking about the kind of money this costs? I appreciate that we are talking one man band development here, but it certainly isn't one man band pricing is it! I expected a few abnormalities, certainly did not expect I could not use it all. I feel that because I fly where I do, it may get passed as a unnecessary fix, as flying over two small islands in the South Pacific is not going to be high in the agenda. August 10, 201312 yr Did you do it in the fmc like this eg NZAAYMMLCLR ? And after receiving Clearance ? Edit:Opps, you did say textbook fashion, dis regard first sentence. And wait till the moving map crashes on you during mid flight, and the whole programe dies with it. August 10, 201312 yr Pro-atcx puts the flight plan in the PMDG/NGX subfolder, which you then have to load into the FMC and activate it.
August 10, 201312 yr Personally I find ProATC to be quite reliable most of the time, but like any ATC add-on it has its foibles. Most of the time though I prefer VoxATC which works great with SID/STARS; all you need is care when flight planning with your first and last waypoints. On arrival you will be assigned a STAR then vectored but you can choose any published approach from the menu (0 key). I think it's currently the best ATC add-on for FSX once you set it up right.
August 10, 201312 yr +1 Well said +1 from me too. I bought it, and have the latest patch on it. Used it for about a week and got bored of it. I did a sector into LFPG and it vectored me all over the place. I ended up self postioning onto the ILS myself. It doesnt interact with the ai aircraft (at least RC4 vectors and interacts with the ai traffic) As for the guy saying vatsim is realistic, file an icao type flightplan from the USA to Europe and see what happens.. Youll have a 14 year old telling you you cant have DCT in the route line and when you question this "expert" he'll tell you its because in the USA they have a VOR called DCT...

August 10, 201312 yr I'm not using it anymore either. I had used the Vox demo and liked it, but had some little annoyances with that. Vox isn't updated very regular also, so I decided to go with ProATC. The Youtube video's of Clive (Alpha) looked pretty cool, and it was updated on a regular basis, so I took the jump. After about a week I stopped using ProATC because of the issues (all reported in this thread also). Too bad they focus more on crowd control by telling their customers not to complain instead of telling them what their plans are, and what problems they are facing etc. You know, some regular small updates. Also on the forum they don't answer any questions some people have had for a long time (even after they promised him weeks ago to answer ASAP), so they really lack in that department. I think everybody understands some work is difficult, let alone for one developer on his own, but they already charge 50 euro's. Why not sell it for an alpha/beta price? Then you know people make a informed decision to jump in on a early phase in development and they probably won't complain. So if you are patient, just wait for a few more months probably, and then it might be a useful ATC-tool. I certainly wouldn't jump in now. Mark
August 10, 201312 yr There are two problems with ProATC: 1) The team seems to value quantity over quality. The feature list is huge, but so is the bug list. 2) There is no developer presence at the support forum. I was told that my bug reports would be looked at "ASAP". It's now been a month without a single reply. Even so, I tend to favor ProATC over VoxATC when flying to airports with high terrain. VoxATC is almost perfect, but it vectores me to a mountain 9 out of 10 times. So does RC4. I just wish that ProATC team would listen to it's customers. Otherwise the product might not become the great product that it has the potential to be. August 10, 201312 yr If you want it done right do it yourself. Go to programming school and get to it.

The concept is great and I like the voice activated feature (more realism), but their AI side of things is very problematic even though it sounds like a good idea to just take the models of your AI add on and more or less create your own AI control within the program. However, I tried the the demo a couple of years ago with UT2 and had all kinds of problems. The developer was not forthcoming with solutions, so I had to pass. The bottom line is, we are still looking for a realistic, bug free alternative to what we have had for years now. Regards, Rick Hobbs
August 10, 201312 yr If you want it done right do it yourself. Go to programming school and get to it. Great idea!! I want better FPS too, so I'm going to build my new Flight Simulator too while i'm at it. Then I could sell those for 50 euro's and if people complain, I'll tell him if they want it better, they should build their own! Brilliant. Be right back... need to freshen up my Pascal and Basic skills from 25 yrs ago. ^_^ Mark

I really do not want to do that again I already have a degree in software engineering and programming is what pays for my house and feeds my family.
