August 12, 201312 yr Thank you to the top two who actually answered my question. The fact of the matter is, I have been on this forum for about 2 years (or since the 777 section was added) and have never contributed due to the 75% of the population being a bit stupid. Which has been clearly highlighted in a few responses. Unless it states in the Avsim CoC that I have to search every topic to see wether or not it will answer my question then please POINT IT OUT. Otherwise stop wasting your wrists/fingers/'brain' energy and giving me complete poo ( I know a more appropriate word beginning with S and ending with T) in response which isn't required. Whilst there is the chain of thought on here that new posters should perform a search before posting a question to both avoid repeating the question ad infinitum (with the same answer), the chain of thought that a polite response is called for is also equally valid and welcome in my humble opinion. However, with your strong statement that, after 2 years on the forum, in your weighty opinion 75% of the population here is a bit stupid (and I would have thought that if you had spent 2 years on here you might have seen one of the multiple threads on here regarding 2d panels, weather radar, release dates etc) and then following up with a rant that because the AVSIM forum guidelines do not require a search to see if something has been asked before. It confirms the old adage that rules are for the obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men. You had my sympathy about those asking you to get back in your box and perform a search, right up until you called 3/4 of the people on here stupid.......... How is it in the 75th percentile then matey? Greg B

How is it in the 75th percentile then matey? Whatever you have tried to say you have over complicated it. On the other hand, I do not actually care what you said. The '75%' comment was a dig to the 'active' members who actually 'contribute' but not contribute in the right manner and always have to be either pedantic or think they are on top of the world and have the right to act as an Admin. Ie, a bit stupid. When I say I have been active for 2 years on this forum I do not mean for 730 days I have been checking this forum everyday. Therefore, things can be missed. Next time you see a post that you know has already been asked and answered, why don't you not open the topic and save yourself from this pointless petty argument. The title should be a bit of a clue on what the topic is and therefore you may prematurely expect what it will be about.
August 12, 201312 yr #1. you should have read the rules for posting on the PMDGwebsite. That is signing your FULL name to your posts! #2. If you had done a search or read some of the posts you would have seen that this subject has been discussed to death, that is why some of the older guys that have been here a long time mentioned about the search function.

August 12, 201312 yr Commercial Member No 2D, except limited pop ups. Also, why does this always devolve into polarity? I would consider it to be a courtesy to at least have a look in the forum to see if a question has been answered. With one as frequently brought up as 2D panels, it's not like it would take a lot of time before you got an answer. As such, I don't see the problem with mentioning "hey, a search would've answered that for you." Of course, the politeness squad comes in and says that referring someone to the search feature is not polite. I'm still somewhat in awe of that statement, as asking people to repeat things over and over is equally also, to some degree, impolite. Then, of course, we get those who say "well if everyone just searches to find an answer, nobody would need to post at all," which, we all know is not true. There are new issues that may crop up, new news, and many other things. Granted, if you're going to point out that a search would've answered it, I'd still attempt to answer the question so as to not be wholly unhelpful. I'm sure someone can find a post where I didn't answer, but by and large, I'll at least provide the answer. While my post was more intended as a friendly, guiding hand... I am starting to believe I have to share Greg's view. Too bad. Welcome to my world... Kyle Rodgers

Your avsim name and your real name could be 2 different things! You should sign your posts with the proper full name or add it to your signature! You really need to calm down and follow the rules of the forum!

The topic "question" or "Fix found" makes me crazy. And if we had good subject headers, search would be even easier. I'm more tempted to jump on someone with a bad subject header than a repeat question. I find it much more annoying. Sometimes scanning the subject headers for a post is more efficient than using the search function. It might cut down traffic - or at least save me from opening a thread I'm not interested in. I've found many (many many) answers by scanning the subject headers and then opening the post. I've also missed many answers because the subject was trash. Bob Donovan - KBOS
