Tutorial Flight for the 777

I'm in the process of writing the tutorial. It always ends up being one of the very last things done because I want the screenshots to represent the final product (I'll do them with the release candidate version probably) and there are still things being fixed that affect the exact values for stuff etc.

I'm doing a similar thing to the NGX where the first tutorial is more basic and the second one that will come with the 300ER and SP1 will be more advanced. This is an ETOPS-120 flight and I do explain the basics regarding how that stuff works since it's a huge component of real life 777 flying. The second tutorial will actually explain the ETOPS planning process, probably using PFPX for it assuming it's released by that point. The one difference vs. the NGX one is that I'm including the cold and dark startup this time as an addendum since people complained about that being absent with the NGX. After you see how long the 777's real life "boot up" and self-test process is though you probably won't want to do cold and dark anymore. It's extremely rare for real life 777 pilots to encounter a plane that isn't already booted up and powered. Fortunately though the process is very simple in this airplane - the NGX is way more complicated to start up.

I have never seen the NDA concerning this plane and the beta testers so this is only a guess. I would imagine that anything that is positive and works as it should can be discussed in this forum. Anything that is negative will be e-mailed(no PM) to PMDG for further development. The video referenced above was probably a screw up and who ever posted it is will never again beta test a plane for PMDG. I think PMDG and the beta testers are going to regret this decision to to allow testers to discuss their findings in this forum. If I have any questions about this plane I now know who to PM.

That's just a wee bit pessimistic there Michael. We're not upset at anyone accidentally showing a bug/error. We know it's a beta version and that the possibility exists. What we asked the testers to do was avoid showing known bugs or specifically pointing things out, stuff like that. No one is in trouble or being kicked off the team lol...

Also though (and this goes for everyone) - please do not treat our testers as if they're technical support for your issues after release. We have our own official support system for that. If you want to post questions and they want to answer you that's fine, but please do not inundate them with PMs and stuff. That's not their job here.

Excellent update, Ryan.  Tank you very much!  Having never been associated with, or worked in the airline industry, it's pieces of information like this that I find so interesting.  Keep up the great work!  :good:

Sounds excellent Ryan! Last time with the Ngx i skipped the tutorials because my neighbor works on the NG and taught me all necessary things, but this time with the Triple, i will do those tutorials for sure, the whole ETOPS-stuff sounds really complicated :) I only flew 747 and MD11 on longhauls so far so it is a whole new thing for me. Looking forward!

And is the route already in discussion?

Why not flying the shortest 777 operated flight on BA from Kingston (MKJP) to Montego Bay (MKJS) or SQ SIN to KUL. EK DXB to AUB...

For the 77W we go on LX when they have to stop in MUC for flying to BKK to get the plane full

Excellent news Ryan, sounds like you guys are in the final mop-up at this point, hope to see her in a few weeks!

Is it allowed to ask what the tutorial route will be i.e. from where to where? Or has this already been asked and I missed it?

I believe that release is imminent Ryan. Next day or so (if not already) according to a Marketing Email i've just received from Christian.

Looking forward to it.

Cheers

Release in a few days so I don't think tomorrow :P but probably before the end of the week. Probably depends on the publisher Aerosoft too.
