August 14, 201312 yr Hi...I'm wondering if the 777 features this in real life as the 737 is the only aircraft that I know has this. Next to the Seat Belt switch on the overhead panel, there is the attend button which has a ding-dong tone, different from the regular fasten seat belt chime. I have not seen any other addon feature this, but have heard it in real life. So I was wondering is the PMDG 777 will have this (or the real one for that matter) switch that tells the flight attendants to sit down for departure, arrival, or turbulence... thanks and happy 777th post haha Mark Javornik

From our SOP's; ------------------------------------------------------------------ When approaching the runway: Seatbelt Selector................Cycle OFF (pause), then on. Cycle SEAT BELTS selector after Cabin Ready received; complete prior to entering the active runway. Pause in the OFF position to clear the EICAS SEATBELTS ON memo message - this ensures the required Cabin Signal (“Double Chime”) is achieved. The Flight Manager will advise Cabin Crew via PA to remain seated for takeoff after the Cabin Signal. Thanks for the reply Mark Javornik

August 15, 201312 yr Some airlines have one of the pilots go on the PA to give the take off imminent warning. Yep, it is airline choice. Here we have them do it with the seatbelt chime, and then on approach when the gear goes down. Their ears are trained to hear that gear go down  Regards,James White Aerosoft (Airbus X Extended/Twin Otter Extended/PFPX) & Majestic Q400 Beta Team
August 15, 201312 yr Was just on United yesterday and it's "Flight attendants, please be seated for departure." over the PA as you turn toward the hold short point. They ding the seatbelt switch at 10,000 to signal them to make the announcement about it being ok to use electronics. On Swiss they announced it in German but I think they said "Cabin crew, takeoff in one minute". Alex Jevdic KORD/KHOT/KPWKA<380 love at first flight
August 15, 201312 yr Also, the ATTEND button on the flight deck of the NG is not used to ding the chime in the cabin, that's what the Chime switch is for (just next to the seatbelt switch). The ATTEND button is there for calling flight attendants over the inter phone. Name available upon request
August 15, 201312 yr The airline I know have a 'Takeoff' button they push on the interphone page of the central CDU. This initiates 3 'Lo-Hi' chimes when takeoff is imminent. As we're on the subject, I've noticed in a couple of the videos that the seatbelt signs and cabin chimes are quite audible, whereas I don't think you can hear them at all on the flight deck in real life, not on the 777 anyway. Maybe Armen or someone from PMDG can chime in on this..... Ross Marsh Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3.2GHz 4GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce GTX580 Windows Vista Home Premium 64x
August 15, 201312 yr There are some variations of it here in Brazil. The pilot usually says "Tripulação, decolagem autorizada" which means "flight crew, we're cleared for take off", and "tripulação, preparar para o pouso" which means "flight crew, prepare for landing". But sometimes we just hear a single chime with no anouncement. And a few times I've seen the seat belt sign go off twice with a chime each time on an Azul E190. Pedro Espindola
August 15, 201312 yr On Air Canada it's one chime then the cockpit will PA "I hope we live, flight attendants take your positions".
August 15, 201312 yr This initiates 3 'Lo-Hi' chimes when takeoff is imminent.Would just like to say that in the companies I have flown for 3 hi/lo chimes indicates a serious problem in the cockpit so.. Ie pilot incapacitation or some other problem.. :-) And we have used the statement Ryan came with, before departure and the cabin chief has called the cockpit and stated that the cabin is clear we would call over the PA - Cabin attendants please be seated for departure. Landing - at 10.000 feet signs would come on, and when near final we would call over the PA - Cabin Attendants please be seated for landing. :-) But again it's different from company to company :-) 737 CL/NG skysurfer
August 15, 201312 yr Great Jakob, now every time a simmer hears those three tones they will race to the door j/k. Interesting to see how much is different between airlines. Especially when many simmers thing everything is set in stone and same across the worlds airlines. --Peter Fabian

Haha yeah, Well i was actually out flying once where the captain accidentally pushed the button three times, and Chief FA rang us instant asking very nervously about what was wrong, the captain was very sorry about the mistake, so when we arrived at the destination and had our turnaround he bought us all a soda, as apology. And we made fun of him for the rest of the day. Lol. ( well I think you should have been there lol) 737 CL/NG skysurfer
