August 15, 201312 yr How many "competitors" have tabs openly discussed and said publicly he flyes? It's no different, devs are simmers too, and interested in advances in the industry. Tabs made many comments regarding majestic's Dash-8, which is direct competition to their dash-8 which they announced long while ago, but I believe since then has been terminated due to Majestic beating them to it. (No need for 2 100% simulations of 1 aircraft, wasted resources better used developing other aircraft that have not been done before) Tabs even reported some bugs with the majestic dash. But i don't have any inside info or don't know if the dash-8 has officially been discarded I do not see any problems with devs publicly talking about using other products... they too are simmers just like us.
August 15, 201312 yr I think Austin should try FSX.... We should chip in and send him a copy along with all the required addons.

August 15, 201312 yr LOL- buy Austin FSX! LMAO! I'm sure he'd point out the differences - and yes, Virginia, there are differences. So far, X-Plane is 'more integrated' - partly because there is a dearth of add-ons at the level of FSX. What X-Plane needs in the worst way: Something like Orbx GlobalBuildings (even just basic default buildings) at major default airportsSupport for SLI video cards <<- THIS IS HUGE Given the fact that powerhouse video cards are more the norm than the exception as each day passes, it seems where X-Plane can crush FSX is in producing butter-smooth and easily configured frame rates. I reinstalled FSX and all the adds (except UTX and one or two minor ones), and overall it runs "OK' but and this is a big but, the stutters and freezes have (sadly) returned. So I have fallen back into what drove me away from FSX- the incessant tweaking and adjusting. What I feel is happening is that I've piled too much work on FSX- particularly with the real time Rex Essential Weather Engine. Is it all that and two bags of Tostitos (visually)? YOU BET. I've never seen clouds and haze better rendered, anywhere, at any price. When REX meets KLAX (FSDreamteam) and the NGX, do worlds collide? Gort Klatuu Barrata Nickto! In plain language: YES, Virginia, you CAN bring a 4.73 i2600k machine with GTX690 card to its knees! Thus I begin lusting for the XPlane 10.3 release which is in the wings. When that happens, the new Ramzzess 757 should release simultaneously, and a significant uptick will occur for X-Plane 10 pilots. R. August 15, 201312 yr Seeing an XP10 Dev at an FSX Live Stream felt alittle weird for me. I would have picked an anonymous login name. Why is he interested in the PMDG 777 when he has his own very expensive product on the market. Does he fly his payware or is he more interested in the FSX 777? http://store01.prostores.com/servlet/x-planestore/Detail?no=452 You can always learn from the competition.
