August 22, 201312 yr I read, not so long ago, that someone was having trouble with poor performance and this was discovered to be a particular type of AI aircraft. I can't remember which one or what program, it may have been an Imbraer jet or something similar. Anyway, I have noticed a few situations where my framerate/performance is acceptable but drops through the floor when, say for example, I turn the AI slider setting up from maybe 15% to 25% Under normal situations this amount of increase would cost perhaps a couple of frames at best. An example would be at Orbx's default Heathrow, sat at the end of runway 9 (?) with frames set at 25% and the performance is absolutely hideous, around 13 frames! Reduce the slider to about 5% and the frames return to about 25. Normally, my own experience suggests that this amount of performance loss is not usualy experienced with such a small change in AI using a thgird party AI program such as My traffic X 5.4, which is what I use. I have also started to experience such frame drops during a flight. Last week I was on a flight from Philadelphia to Boston using the Sky Harbour freeware and Fly Tampa sceneries. Ten minutes into the flight and my frames went from 28 to below 10! There's no Win update, Acronis, Firewall or AV as running in the background as they are all dormant during flying. I also fly with a minimum of background services and programs running. Does anyone else experience this or am I grabbing at straws and am imagining things? Cheers guys... August 22, 201312 yr I notice such a drop every time over downtown Marseille (France) . My frames drop from 25-30 to 1.xx causing a freeze or stutter of a couple of seconds. Strange thing is this is independent from the aircraft , AI settings or Autogen. Even with all set to 0 same behavior. Another strange thing : Effect did not change at all when switching from Gex/UTX to FTXG and UTX. There is no other add on scenery in place . As soon as I leave that specific area everithing is back to normal. Very strange.
August 22, 201312 yr Author Mmm, it is extremely weird. Especially when there are no other progs running... August 22, 201312 yr You don't say where you got your AI from.... The first thing you might check is the AI percentages contained in your AI flightplans - or at least those who'd have large numbers of real-life aircraft in the areas where you are experiencing problems. e.g. at Heathrow, BA, Virgin and the big American airlines. Good AI flightplans have the AI percentage contained within them distributed randomly so that when you move your slider, flights for that airline increase or decrease at a roughly linear rate. Some flightplans however have all the flights set at 1% occurrence, so it doesn't matter whether your slider is at 2% or 100%, all the flights will be there. So to take an extreme example, if your BA AI is all set at 19%, with the slider set at 15% you won't see a single BA flight. At 20%, you'll see very single one, with the inevitable hit on FPS. If this is your problem, there are programs out there which you can use to randomise say the Top 20 world and European airlines. Smaller airlines (say those with only a few aircraft) you may want to set at 1% yourself in order to get variety in your AI.

August 22, 201312 yr Hah! The title made me think you had some AI that was trying to take you out... Don't skoff - I had a fuel truck pass across the runway after a long flight (Leadville to KCOS, southern route) and it took me right out. August 22, 201312 yr There is also a little app I use, and have for some years called AI Dupe. Since running this, I can have sliders up quite high with good performance (MTX5.4b) What it does, is remove duplicates. One of MTX faults is duplicate flights, which can hammer your fsx, with ai dupe, it cleans all dupes out and works like a charm. I don't think UT2 has this issue as it is not BGL based, but for MTX, or any other bgl based ai, it is a must. http://library.avsim.net/search.php?SearchTerm=aidupe&CatID=root&Go=Search System: MSFS2024, ASUS Rog Stryx Z790-A, Intel i9-14900KF, Asus ROG Ryujin III 360 , Asus Hyperion Case,Rog Stryx 4090 OC, Samsung 970 EVO M.2 SSD, 1Tb Samsung 860 EVO SSD,64Gb G Skill Memory, Asus Aura 1200W Gold PSU,Win 11 ,LG C4 48" 4K OLED Screen., Airbus TCA Full Kit, Stream Deck XL. August 22, 201312 yr No problem Howard. A good test is Heathrow. Put your sliders at 51 % then go to gate 519, and have a look at all the BA 777 and 747's. Full and even 2 planes per gate some times. set time at about 9 am Then install aidupe and go back and have a look. Install the dll where fsuipc resides <modules> and then edit your dll.xml using norepad + and just below the enrty for fsuipc put <Launch.Addon> <Name>AIDupe</Name> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <Path>D:\fsx\Modules\AIDupe.dll</Path> >>>>>>>>>>>Alter path to the drive letter you use </Launch.Addon> You should get a trusted dialouge box appear on fsx start up, select yes. If you don't get that box come up, it is not installed correctly. August 22, 201312 yr Author Hi Julian, thanks for that mate. I have installed it and to all intents and purposes it has done so correctly. However, I have to admit at seeing little change. I will continue with some further testing though. Cheers... August 22, 201312 yr Cool. Of course, what works for me might not work for you. One thing about my install of mtx. I have removed all the mtx afcads. I simply cannot trust them as there is so many, Also, if you think there might be a rouge ai, have you tried a re install. There is a beta version available .54c new schedules. You could try that to see if it helps. Available at the mtx forum. April 9, 201610 yr Hi, I'm not sure if I understand AIdupe funcionality - advice please, does it make sense to install AIdupe with default traffic off? I fly only on VATSIM and I see only VATSIM traffic. Lucas Lukasz Trzaskowski
