August 26, 201312 yr Hello again guys... execuse me if this topic has been opened before but I made a search and couldnt find specific one Honestly i am the type of pilots who just loads his flight, grab a flight plan, look alittle bit at weather (headwind or tailwind cruise) etc... just basic planing so i usually use basic methods now the issue is when i want to fly oceanic flights, either the NAT tracks or the australian tracks, i only know how to enter NAT tracks for the atlantic, i dont knw any method for other track in the globe I need from you guys to give me a specific way for each tracks in the globe, for NAT tracks I only know this way: 5250N, 5320N, 5160N. and this way is very basic i am sure because the way flightaware shows flight plans is way more dif than this. and I would appreciate if you guys can give me the way for each PMDG plane, 747, 737, MD11, 777 thanks again guys Moe ELkarout
August 26, 201312 yr Commercial Member Hmm - I may have this wrong, but here goes: 5260N = N52 W060 52N60 = N52 E060 5260S = S52 W060 52S60 = S52 E060 Note the placement of N and S in the above examples. This format only works for whole degrees. It is typed as shown, and appears the same when entered. Leading zero of longitude does not need to be entered, but must be entered for latitude. For partial degrees, you enter the full position in decimal minutes format: N5023.7W01020.0 formats to N50W010 when entered. N5023.7E01020.0 formats to N50E010 when entered. S5023.7W01020.0 formats to S50W010 when entered. S5023.7E01020.0 formats to N50E010 when entered. Note that all leading zeros must be entered. Best regards, Robin.
August 26, 201312 yr Also, see the following website for the different daily NAT tracks! http://jetvision.de/nattracks.shtml When you find your flight plan from, for example, SimBrief, it will have the route followed by NATx, where 'x' is a letter representing a series of co-ordinates. In the route KIAD-EHAM: SWANN V268 BROSS J42 RBV LLUND BAYYS PUT WITCH ALLEX N93B CYMON NATW GISTI LIFFY UL975 WAL UM16 DOLAS UL603 LAMSO you will see "NATW" which represents the "W" series of NATs. You then go to the NAT website mentioned above to find the co-ordinates to be entered in the FMC. In this case, "NATW" represents co-ordinates 51N50W 53N40W 54N30W 55N20W. Phew. Hope this helps, this is how I do it anyways. ^_^ Wybe Witteveen VATSIM S3 Controller | Dutch VACC
August 26, 201312 yr If you want current AUSOTS (Australian Organised Track Structure), they can be found here. Routes shown on Flightaware will have the individual waypoints on the NAT Track, rather than just NATW as explained above. However, the format given on Flightaware for lat/longs is not how it is entered in the FMC nor on an ICAO flightplan, so keep that in mind. Also, a good reminder of the format that can be used, was a tip that Kyle mentioned in here a few weeks ago... Just look at the format used for LAT/LONG's on the POS INIT page of the FMC. That will always work and is always easy to find (without minimising, googling etc.) Regards,James White Aerosoft (Airbus X Extended/Twin Otter Extended/PFPX) & Majestic Q400 Beta Team
August 26, 201312 yr Commercial Member I go here for both NAT and Pacific tracks: https://pilotweb.nas.faa.gov/PilotWeb/ Go here for weather information: http://weather.noaa.gov/pub/fax/Amaster_index.html SkyVector is awesome too: http://www.skyector.com/ Best regards, Robin.
August 26, 201312 yr Commercial Member Why? Why, oh great, unforgiving world? Why must you kill me so? (If you're not getting it, NAT stands for North Atlantic Tracks - NAT Tracks is North Atlantic Track Tracks. I'm assuming you also put your PIN Number in an ATM Machine, right after telling your car insurance company what the VIN Number is on your SUV Vehicle...STAHP!) I need from you guys to give me a specific way for each tracks in the globe, for NAT tracks I only know this way: 5250N, 5320N, 5160N. and this way is very basic i am sure because the way flightaware shows flight plans is way more dif than this. and I would appreciate if you guys can give me the way for each PMDG plane, 747, 737, MD11, 777 5250N is an acceptable format. I think this is more to do with the nav data containing that format in the database. Similarly N52W050 would work for that same point, again for the reason it's a "named" fix in the nav data. That named fix, of course, simply provides the Lat/Lon to the system when it looks it up just as entering SWANN would (note the 5250N is five letters, just as any other fix is). The true way to enter a Lat/Lon in aircraft can be seen right on the INIT page when you give it a position (I mentioned this in the first video I put up). That's raw Lat/Lon though. In the route KIAD-EHAM: I'd call you out for creepin on my last flight, but I think I was on X (that sounds wrong...haha). Kyle Rodgers
August 26, 201312 yr I'd call you out for creepin on my last flight, but I think I was on X (that sounds wrong...haha). I swear I got that route from somewhere else! Promise! Now if only you'd respond to EHAM_GND... (ME!) Intended as a joke. Wybe Witteveen VATSIM S3 Controller | Dutch VACC
August 26, 201312 yr Commercial Member Now if only you'd respond to EHAM_GND... (ME!) Oh SNAP! Yeah, that was a bad week with me and ATC. You and Gander got it bad with my squawk list in front of Squawkbox, and then NY pinged me clear on the other side of Boston's airspace (early) for whatever reason (I'm guessing because it's tough to get people down without Boston's initial descent instructions). I'm actually sitting at EHAM right now, on my way down to LZSH to test something out. You gonna be on today? Kyle Rodgers
August 26, 201312 yr You gonna be on today? Not totday unfortunately, but I just summoned Tower for you who should be online any second  Wybe Witteveen VATSIM S3 Controller | Dutch VACC
August 26, 201312 yr Commercial Member Not totday unfortunately, but I just summoned Tower for you who should be online any second  haha - I'm 6 behind you all  It'll be a little while before I get back home from tearing people's documents to shreds with red ink (and now you know where the earlier Grammar-######-driven rant comes from). Haha Kyle I was waiting for you to say something! Good to know I'm predictable! Kyle Rodgers

I have heard of all of these with the exception of SUV vehicle. Never heard anyone refer to it as such before. Captain Kevin Air Kevin 124 heavy, wind calm, runway 4 left, cleared for take-off. August 26, 201312 yr Commercial Member I have heard of all of these with the exception of SUV vehicle. Never heard anyone refer to it as such before. I added it for dramatic effect. I wouldn't be surprised to hear it though. I went off on a huge rant about Reese's Pieces (Ree-sez Pee-sez, not Ree-seeeeees Pee-seeeeeeeeeees) the other day. Seriously...say 'pieces.' Do it again: say 'pieces.' Guaranteed both of those times, you say it normally. Now say 'Reese.' Again: say 'Reese.' Now say "this is Reese's toy." Guaranteed all of those times, you say it normally. Put it together and people suddenly go full retard and can't say either one of them, as if they're 4 years old again... Kyle Rodgers
August 26, 201312 yr NAT stands for North Atlantic Tracks I'm so confused now. What I'm I to do next time I get an RA advisory on my TCAS system while I'm flying on a NAT track? In all fairness, I don't cringe at NAT track so much because of the belief that NAT stands for North ATlantic . . . even if it doesn't. Walter Meier
