September 7, 201312 yr Hi, From using the tutorial and inputting the SEL Temp in the Thrust Limit section it set's the correct De-rated take off for T7. Where or how do I get the SEL Temp if I'm doing a normal flight in T7? Would it be from using PFPX? I'd appreciate anyone's help so I know for the future and can use this for 744 flights aswell? I couldn't see anything in the manuals unless I've not looked in right section Kind Regards Jason Jason Thompson
September 7, 201312 yr You would need something like TOPCAT to compute de-rated thrust. PFPX is a flight planner, TOPCAT is a takeoff and landing performance calculator. John Sturm

Until FlightSimSoft (don't hold your breath,) AuraSim, or another company or individual makes a calculator, you'll have to guess...that or find the tables yourself. Matt L.

September 7, 201312 yr ...Until FlightSimSoft (don't hold your breath,)... I wouldn't be so cynical. They were open that all development for TOPCAT was placed on hold while making PFPX. PFPX is out now and getting cleaned up quickly. It takes some time, but they seem to indicate that they won't leave one of the most popular aircraft untouched in TOPCAT. Eric Szczesniak

John, I do have TOPCAT so from reading your post. I can get this information from that then ? Thanks for replies guys. Regards Jason Jason Thompson
September 7, 201312 yr No, TOPCAT have not done any work at all expanding their very small database of less than a dozen airplanes. I understand it's a complicated program but for them to only support a handful of airplane types after all this time of the program being out is ridiculous. They say they will start making more profiles now that their much delayed flight planner is out, and I hope they are right. It is a great tool, but severely limited with little support. Not to mention the horrendously outdated navdata in TOPCAT as well.
September 7, 201312 yr Not yet, because there is no profile for the 777 in TOPCAT at this time. I haven't tried it yet, but I believe it should be possible calculating the assumed temperature yourself using FCOM1 pages PD.30.1 through PD.30.11. Marc
September 7, 201312 yr Does anyone know what the maximum derate is for the 777? I seem to remember reading a post from a RW pilot in the NGX forums that the 737 had a Max derate of 50C or something like that. I did a three hour flight last night and derated to 60C, but I hit V1 like a rocket so I'm curious how much further I could derate on lightly loaded aircraft... I'll leave this right here for you so that I don't have to type practically verbatim what he said. Not to mention the horrendously outdated navdata in TOPCAT as well. Me saying to not hold your breath while waiting for them to make a 777x profile for TOPCAT is not 'cynical;' it's honest. The last aircraft and runway database was released on Jan 21, 2011...regardless of PFPX. Christian and Judith have both said that making a TOPCAT profile for any aircraft is very time consuming. I honestly don't expect a TOPCAT profile for several months because of that. Does anyone know what the maximum derate is for the 777? September 7, 201312 yr Is there anyone out there who could point to a set of charts from Boeing for the -200LR with TO1/2 to TO equivalent weight charts? And the assumed OAT charts? All the other charts are in the FCOM. Doing things by hand isn't awesome, but it works. ...I honestly don't expect a TOPCAT profile for several months because of that... I agree with that! I had read "don't hold your breath" to imply that it wasn't expected to ever come. I do think they will begin supporting TOPCAT again, but agree that nothing will be quick. Eric Szczesniak
