September 25, 201312 yr Author I know that this is off topic, and it is not the function of PFPX but it would be great if PFPX could inject the online weather (its online weather) to FSX. would be awesome. I just wish but of course would never be available Remy Sarkis BAW1031 UAE1525
September 25, 201312 yr Can we update the wind data during the flight with this pfpx function ? Anyone knows ? I tried with ASE, but when i try to replace the wx file, it tells me that is in use :| so, no wind updates during flight Jason Cardeira
September 25, 201312 yr Jason, If you have read Ryan's item (#33) of 19th September above, do you really need updated en route winds? September 25, 201312 yr yep i read it. The updates are in real world after 6hours. If i fly in real time (maybe one day in one million days) that is needed. And i think OPUS make that updates during flight. Bu this is not a big problem, just asking to know. Thanks Richard, Jason Cardeira

Therefore, set Active Sky to live updates or use Active Sky as your weather source in PFPX and you'll get the same results.

September 26, 201312 yr You can update the winds aloft with as2012 as much as you want during a flight in the 777. I've updated it once an hour until I found out about the 6 hour rule. Just create another. Wx file add a 1 or 2 behind the filename etc to it and save it in the directory. I just name mine flat 1.wx then 2.wx etc, i dont even type the icao codes. Then type in the filename with the number and voila updated winds aloft. Sean Green

September 26, 201312 yr yes I know, I am just talking about the updates the 6 hours wind aloft updates in case of weather change . The real world Winds and Temperatures Aloft tables are only updated once every 6 hours, so there is nothing for Active Sky to update until the real world table updates. You can also confirm this by looking at the Winds and Temperatures Aloft Forecasts - the forecasts are only good for 6 hours at a time (as at the expiry of that time they'll get updated again). You can update the winds aloft with as2012 as much as you want during a flight in the 777. I've updated it once an hour until I found out about the 6 hour rule. Just create another. Then type in the filename with the number and voila updated winds aloft. You can update it as much as you want but it shouldn't be changing any numbers (unless you just happen to refresh right after the real world table is updated). If you are getting different numbers on refresh when the real world table didn't update than that is some weird Active Sky interpolation going on that probably shouldn't be. I haven't actually tried to see if they are different on refresh but they shouldn't be unless the real world table updated.

IE I could have up to four files in the WX folder named A.wx B.wx C.wx and D.wx If I want to use the B.wx I just type into the scratchpad B and hit the route request line select key then exec. You can name the wind file anything you like as long as they have a .wx extension. I have mine labelled a b c d etc or 1 2 3 etc. Even though now the wx programs are auto creating the files for you. Maybe I have been using it incorrectly all along but I always type the wx file name I want to load. I look at the files in my wx folder on a second networked computer and type in the filename and hit rte request then execute. Hope this explains it for you. Sean Green
