Easy to fly Payware 777

Featured Replies

Hey guys and girls,

I was wondering if anyone knew of a nice 777 payware with a gps/nav switch, similar to the Just Flight Freemium 757?

Thanks

What comes closest to what you want is the (freeware) POSKY 777 - I'm not aware of any other "lite" T7 out there.

In terms of payware, the closest you can get is probably the CLS/Just Flight 767 (but obviously that isn't a T7).

Ok, if you want to spend money on a nice 777, why do you want it with a GPS/NAV switch?  Seems a waste of money.

Incase you have been living under a rock, PMDG have just released their long awaited 777, but it has no GPS/NAV switch.  It uses a FMC like the real thing.

Otherwise, if you don't want to spend 90USD, perhaps you can take a look at the captain sim 777, but reviews are not the best.

Oh trust me, I know all about PMDG.  I don't know how to use an FMC and cannot afford the PMDG, trust me, if I knew how to use an FMC and had the money to spend, I'd already have bought their MD-11 years ago.

Don't have not knowing how to use the FMC as a justification to not buy it. You can use the price though, but if you really want a nice T7 you could save for it.

The FMC is really simple to use once you know what you are actually doing which there are many tutorials availble for it, and so much for fun than a Nav/Gps switch.

But isn't the CS nearly as expensive as the PMDG one?

If it were only for the FMC, PMDG have excellent tutorials where they explain how to use the FMC - their MD-11 was how I learned to use the FMC properly. But I totally understand your worries - the PMDG is indeed a very expensive product, but then again this (sadly) can be quite an expensive hobby.

You could wait for the next 9.99/24h sale by Captain Sim ... but their B777 FMC is full of bugs.

You can modify the CS autopilot by changing it to the default FSX one, but I'm not sure you can make the CS 777 follow a FSX flightplan that way.

I'd save up for the "real" deal (PMDG), I would never fly a 777 with a gps/nav switch

Once you get used to the user interface the FMC is very easy to use, would recommend saving up for the PMDG as it is an incredible aircraft which itself is very easy to fly with all the automation and fly by wire. In fact would say it could be easier to fly than a 'simpler' implementation due to that depth of systems.

If you are going to save up for just one aircraft with FMC, I think the PMDG NGX is a better purchase.  You still get a full sim just like the real thing but its a much for flexible aircraft in terms of the type of flights it does (i.e. very short to 6 or 7 hours).  Also, there is more to do in the NGX, the 777 is a very automated aircraft.  Plus its cheaper than the 777.  Just my 2 cents.

If you are really set on a basic 777 the only 2 I know of is the Overland Boeing collection (There is a Airbus collection as well) for 20 Euro that include basic models with GPS Nav for the 737-700,800,900, 747-400, 767-300ER, 777-200, 777-300, 777-300ER and the MD-11. The package is rather old and will require a patch. The other is a little more complex, what we would classify as a lite model. The Aerosim First Step, which includes the 777-200 and some scenery, (I believe somewhere in Japan. That is $35

the freeware project open sky 777 is the one you're looking for.  comes the closest anyway, and it looks superb, and flies great.  it is an fs9 model, so if you use dx10 like me, you'll need addon converter or the forthcoming dx10 fixer to run it.  if you don't use dx10 you have nothing to worry about.

To others in this thread:  it is ok for people to like, and for developers to develop, simple flightsim aircraft.  not everyone wants a full procedural sim.

that being said, to the OP, if you do want to try something more complex, the NGX is pretty amazing, and the tutorials do a better job than most of explaining how and why to do everything.

An automated, long-range, heavy Boeing (about the same "class" as the T7), with PMDG level of development would be the "old" PMDG 747-400 (version 1.0). V1.0 will be upgraded by PMDG to a V2.0, but if you can live with the current one - it's cheaper than the T7 and most probably cheaper than the upcoming V2.0.

Guys, I believe the man has been very specific- He does not wants a T-7 with FMC. He is looking for GPS. Please refrain from sending him over and over agian to a product he is not looking for.
