Anybody who lives in the Greater Los Angeles Area....must have thought, they have died, and gone to Heaven....

Riverside, Van Nuys, etc...wow!

I use to live in Van Nuys in the early '60's on Encino Ave.

This is gonna be fun....

Thank you for the FSXG Airport Pack 1....beautifully done, with great visual elements.  Flying from one to the other for touch and go's....this is what I'm talkin' about....

P.S.  I love how FSXG has brought massiveness/expansiveness to all the Greater Metropolitan Areas around the globe.  Detroit, L.A., Chicago....the best I have seen to date. UTX is always in the mix with it.  FSXG gives you a sprawling CITY...by gawd!

It just keeps getting better 'n better....yeehaw!

Hey, you were close to me. I lived right near the corner of Balboa and Victory where Birmingham High School is. I graduated in 69. My Dad and I were always at VN airport borrowing someones plane to go get parts for his Smith Miniplane. Wow, what a small world.

Thanks for the Heads Up on these - I had missed this one, so good call

I'm going to tour these airports, in the A2A C172.

I stayed with a nice family in Receda in the early 90s, on an exchange trip......  So I'll take off at Van Nuys and go fly over that way for old times sake..

I definitely can't wait for the the Cali region packs. Those will be huge.

Well, hello neighbor! :)  We also had a house on Debby St, as well.  Yep...it is a small world.

I bet you and I crossed paths in the hallways at:

Mulholland Jr High School

I was the tall lanky guy who was always hanging around Genny ******'s locker hoping to get fixed up for a date, before the clear-hall bell sounded. If you knew that cheerleader...with a first name of Genny...(blond, green eyes...gorgeous...) then you DID see me without knowing it, LOLOLOLOL!  We finally went steady....

My dad was a land developer, so we would move around quite a bit (you'd think I was a military rat....lol)  I am originally from Phoenix, AZ, but dad followed his instincts on the next pre-boomer land rush, and we scooted over to the G.L.A.  First Van Nuys, then Malibu (always hung in the Summer at either Roy Rogers State Park, or Zuma Beach (loved Zuma for great surfing and chick watching!), then we did a stint back near Phoenix, as he and his partners helped develop Fountains Hills. Soon, he moved (I MUST have been a military rat, or so you'd think...lol!) us to the Great Lakes Area and Michigan has been the last holding stint for the family. I found my life partner here..and so settled down. I am TRYING to talk her into moving back to Arizona (probably Fountain Hills, or Apache Junction, etc...for to keep my bones warm an entire 12 months!  So far...I am not winning.  I love motorcycling, and being in the Great Lakes Region, bums me out for the 5 or so months that the Goldwing sleeps.....again...BUMMER!  To those that live and bike in Arizona...you have NO IDEA of what blessings you are enjoying....or yeah...maybe you do.... :(     Enjoy....from a guy who turns over his snowblower...and NOT his bike....anytime between November-April.....  "Hon, how would you like to be able to plant flowers and watch your rye grass grow in December?????"   Yeah...that's the subtle mind game strategy I'm currently working on....;)

I just did a few touch and runs down the Valley........the airports are top notch... this hobby rocks!

Hey Mitch, yes I have moved quite it bit too. It looks like we visited much of the same areas from the Valley. Really do not miss it though. I went back in 73 and stayed for a year after I bought my Harley, since I had all the tax free cash from being in the war zone. Walked into the harley store and paid cash and drove out. Took my little sporty up the coast from L.A. all the way to Canada and back. What a great time. Then the money ran out and had to get to work LOL. I lived in the phoenix area from 75 -78 around 12th and Indian School. My Mom and Dad lived out  around 32nd St. and Shea blvd. I cannot remember the the name of the area. Anyway I was broad sided on my Harley from a real estate woman who ran the stop sign and that was it for me on bikes. I was hurt pretty bad but no long term issues. From there to New Mexico for 30 years then 10 years in Washington State on the Kitsap Penninsula (Bremerton Silverdale area). Loved it there but it is not for everyone. We moved back to New Mexico for a couple of years and now in Houston to see my wifes daughter. I know what you mean about the snow and the winters. Albuquerque got some snow, not a lot, but it was damn cold in the winter at 5000 feet. I hate Houston and will be getting a motorhome soon and that way we can change our zip code at will!!  Nice to talk to you and I hope you can pick some flowers in the winter time in the near future. Life is too short to not do what you want to do.

Bob....12th and Indian School?!?!?!?    My old haunts...had lots of friends in Scottsdale. YOU ARE KIDDING ME!  Were you there when they built the great concrete overpass connected to nothing and nowhere, on the reserve land?  BTW, it is still there...lol.  Lived for a time off of Central Ave as well.  Camel Back could be seen from my back yard.  For all the places I was dragged as a kid growing up...my heart is, and always will be drawn to Arizona.  Unless you live there, become part of the culture there, not many can understand the draw to living in a desert/arid climate. Unless you live there, you can't fathom the varied beauty of that state.....I miss it dreadfully.  So, here's to hoping I convince my wife to find out what rye grass actually is...wish me luck!  Enjoyed sharing life stories with ya, Bob.  Enjoy that motor home, as I am sure you will!   BTW, did your folks ever hang out at Desert Hot Springs?  We would go there for the mineral baths...well, my DAD would go there..and drag the rest of us along...:)

Cheers!

Mitch (we are all connected by two Life degrees, it seems...)

Geez, wish I could remember. I rented a tiny house there but cannot remember nor was I that involved in the community at that point in my life. Yes, I do remember Desert Hot Springs. Trying to remember. I have tons of pics when I was in the phx area, but have not gone through them in ages. I remember going with my Mom and Dad to their favorite restaurant called the "Singing Canary". I think that was the name. The interesting aspect of the restauarant was that the cielings were filled with dress ties which were cut off individuals who came to the restaurant wearing them. It was a theme they had of not dressing up to come there. Of course the business men of the community, including my Dad, would take others there and force them to wear a tie so they could watch them get cut off and take pics. Interesting place. Food was good too! I did have some nice rides on my bike with some others I had met there and really enjoyed the freedom. My brother at the time when I went in the military (1969) in phoenix, could ride is dirt bike right out the back gate and into the desert. My Mom and Dads house was 1 of 3 houses in that area at the time. Now of course it is a huge subdivision where there were.

Take Care Mitch, and yes I will enjoy the MotorHome. Can hardly wait! I have always stayed really busy my whole life but am finally getting somewhat comfortable basically doing nothing LOL

I do not have any ORBX products installed but do have UTX-USA and GEX-NA installed. Can I still install these freeware airports or do I need an ORBX product installed to do so? I did read that I need to have some ORBX libraries installed. Can I download those or do I need to get them by buying another product?   I do own ORBX-PWN but have not installed yet.

'but am finally getting somewhat comfortable basically doing nothing'...

Bob, that cracked me up....God bless!  We did our stints for our Country and thankfully survived....and deserve a life of doing whatever the heck we want...and WHEN WE WANT!  That's the plan...  Sometimes my wife thinks she is a D.I....but I gently remind her' " sometimes, hon...sometimes,... the 'Honey Do' list can..er...wait until I land this plane!!!!! The grass isn't going to grow a 1/4 inch before the wheels touch the ground..."  She looks at me...sucks her lips, rolls her eyes, shakes her head, smiles, comes over, bends down...gives me a hug and kiss...and says; "you're right, the grass can wait a little longer, my hunky Pilot Man".  Bob...I picked one of the 'right ones'...:)  Life is good...

Backslap's bud,

Thanks for the backslap. Your wife sounds wonderful but I have to tell you this. My wife dresses up as a stewerdess and when I push the cockpit button she shows up and asks what I need. It took awhile. Oh, one thing I wanted to ask you. Do you remember the U2's taking off from VN?

Take care... see you on the forum.
