Just in case PMDG flyers missed this.

Thanks to Jim for catching this.

I may be mistaken, but doesn't the installer for the 777 check what version you have installed?

Been trying to think what addon replaced my correct one for the wrong one. And not implying it was PMDG :P

Ryan will have to post this one in the general forum (pinned topic), too ...

Thinking the same Olli

Geee, when products start replacing files like this without even letting you know....that is not cool.

I dont think PMDG does so though.

They only advice you to get it updated!

Also someone else replied about the file being blocked so I checked , and shure enough if you right click on the file , check the general tab it said it was blocked because it was copied from another computer. I hit allow and I haven't seen the ntdll.dll crash and freeze with this AC yet ! Smooth sailing so far hope this is the fix.

Definitely not by PMDG I didn't even have it. But after reading the intro and about this I've downloaded and put it in the root directory of FSX

When the workaroud was found in 2009 i did MD5 check on that file to make sure to extract the

correct library from Vista 32bit myself. I have been hoarding this info since then, so i am very sure the correct library is 6.0.6001.18000.

Beside of that i have been using it since then without any problems. So at least in my case no mystic installer dropped any "suspect" file

into my system i did it myself, intentionally.  :P

In AVSIM and in Word Not Allowed guide the 6.0.5840.16386 UI is offered, i never needed this one to keep my FSX stable.

Guys with ntdll.dll errors should better start intel burn test and/or prime95 custom run FFTs (960) to verify if they are really stable with modern

cpu architecture.

Hi Dear Guys,

I'm a bit lost: could  you clarify that all the above could be applied for windows 7 64 bit? Or VISTA only?

I mean checking this dll in FSX cfg and replacing it as required.

Thanks,

Tamas Kovacsics

I had had *.18000 installed until Jim's H-U and had experienced freezes. Yesterday I replaced it by *.16386 but haven't been able to test it yet.

@onduty:

Yes, this dll is supposed to be placed in the FSX root folder with OS later than Vista. So it's for W7 as well.

Hmm

I 've had a look for this in my fsx core folder and I don't have it in there at all only place that I have that file is in my win/sys32 folder and the version is 7. something

I've never had a crash with that failure

I do run win 7 64 bit would that make any difference?

Don't mess with the version in your ...sys32 folder.

This whole discussion is about an extra dll directly placed in the FSX root folder.

The one in the ...sys32 folder is needed for all the other stuff happening on your W7 system - don't touch that version!!!
