October 8, 201312 yr Ammm, guys? What do they mean by "baked texture?" It means that the shadows and ambient occlusion are "baked" onto the texture since the FSX lighting engine pretty much sucks, makes for a more realistic appearance.. Best, Michael KDFW
October 8, 201312 yr the bug has been also updated. Hmmm, I found the tacpack update but not the F18 one | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
October 8, 201312 yr Just wanted to ask, what kind of things do you do with this addon in FSX? As we know FSX's main market is tubeliners and VFR/trainer flights; more a "procedural" sim, whereas DCS is more combat. The F18 being an MRF, what do you do with it on a non-mil sim? October 8, 201312 yr Most guys blow stuff up I tried to use it for IFR navigation, as fast cool jet. Unfortunately it uses FSX stock database, and the autopilot is very poor (basically default), unless you have the tackpack - they said they did a custom one in that case. I have since uninstalled it but wondered what was in the new update. Oh, also, the night vision through HUD was really badass, | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
October 8, 201312 yr blowing stuff up is just one aspect of the tacpack+f/a18. the new avionics (flir pod, radar modes, etc.) are groundbreaking for fsx and nav steering modes are very complete (the original steering modes were just fine, this thing doesn't have an fms and vnav mode like the tubes). carrier ops, aa refueling, 'blowing stuff up,' or simply flying from a to b just like the beech duke can be enjoyed with this package. I disagree. Couldn't fly a VOR radial worth a darn.... S turned across the radial. October 8, 201312 yr So are there any organised missions or events/flights regularly with these? Also noticing A2A has some warbirds as well, so it seems FSX is moving towards the military direction as well? Brendan Chen Learning to use and getting use to FSX!
October 8, 201312 yr odd, thought tcn and courseline steering modes worked before. worked just fine now (not flying supersonic). R9-9950X3D 32G | RTX5090 | 3T m.2 | Win11 | vkb-gf ultimate & pedals | virpil cm3 throttle | tm boeing yoke | pimax super uw | DCS
October 8, 201312 yr You fly it. Seriously just fly it anywhere and everywhere. Vfr flight through the mountains?.....pffft do it better in an F18! Going from a single engine piston that putts along at 140 mph to a 600 mph fighter with engines putting out 18k lbs of thrust each, is like.....getting your license and buying a Bugatti Veyron as your first car. October 8, 201312 yr I got a mate who was an F-111 pilot, telling us warstories of exercises over grand canyon with some big number of F111s and F15s on a race going supersonic and bursting ear drums of park rangers. When you said that, it reminded me of that lol. Just wondering are there any popularity for formation flights with multiplayer clients that has better accuracy than FSInn? October 8, 201312 yr Sounds good! After being on a recent KC-30 refueling flight in person, seeing it live with my eyes the Super Hornets refueling got me tingling to try the VRS out if it is of PMDG/DCS level of fidelity (which is what I've been hearing here and there). And now an improved/updated version is surely encouraging! And if I was going to get the bird, it'll most definitely be with the TACPACK as well. Otherwise if doesn't feel complete. Brendan Chen Learning to use and getting use to FSX!
October 9, 201312 yr Many other improvements and bugfixes Could you tell me what version this should be? I downloaded 1.2.1.0+1.4.0.9 the other day and this seems to be the version that I'm downloading if I get it again. I may have downloaded the new version without realizing it. October 9, 201312 yr I tried to use it for IFR navigation it's a military fighter jet not a Boeing/Airbus Press "Autopilot" and go to sleep jet
