October 15, 201312 yr I'm doing something like a combination of @mikel and @howellerman. Based out of Cordoba Argentina flying the RealAir SF260. Limit my flights to 1-2 hours. After touring within that radius (top speed about 180 kias), will upgrade my aircraft to something a bit faster and longer legs, maybe more Bronco flying. After that, a jet of some kind. Each cycle spending 10-20 hours in each plane. But always returning home to SACE so the local course rules and airspace are familiar. October 16, 201312 yr Author Oh jeez, so many great suggestions, I don't know where to start. I like the idea of a VA. I've never flown online (probably some deeply repressed fear), so a VA might be a good alternative. I think I'll buy the A2A Captain of the Ship and fly it, and only it, until I am fully qualified on it. Except of course the 777 and the NGX. Oh, and the Duke. I'm doomed. :unknw: Dennis Trawick Screen Shot Forum Rules

I'm doomed. :unknw: Your solution is to buy another aircraft? You sound like...well...me. To make my hangar more manageable, I conducted my own (admittedly not terribly scientific) survey of the quality of the various add-ons I have. That gave me a list of the aircraft that are really worth putting some effort into mastering. The rest have been moved into a FSX\SimObjects\Archive folder. In addition, after a spell away from FSX, I'm making myself do a back-to-basics refresher, essentially doing sport pilot lessons, followed by private pilot, followed by instrument work, followed by multi-engine etc, to try to reflect the progression in the real world. I've come to the conclusion that if realism is what I'm into, which it is, then there's not much point learning about holds if you you can't even get s-turns right (mea culpa). I'm just finishing up the basics with the A2A J-3 Cub (once I get those bloody ground reference manoeuvres right), then it'll be the A2A C172 (PPL), then the RealAir Lancair or SF260 (instrument rating), then the Beech Duke (multi-engine)...etc. After that, I'll do the others on my "quality list" in order of MTOW, or complexity, or something. Or maybe I'll just pull a name from a hat.
October 16, 201312 yr I now fly only the PMDG 777 exclusively (But I also get CTDs from time to time...not sure if its 777 issue or something else) and prior to this, the Aerosofts Airbus Ext. Not sure why I stopped flying GA... I suspect they are too slow? But I face the dillema about WHERE to fly... Recently I am stuck flying Dubai, or KBVS (Orbx NA) or San Diego/KLAX area. October 16, 201312 yr I have your blue listed planes (except the BAE146 and Sable F36) plus the MD-11, J41, Airbus Xtended, Simcheck A300, and they are the only planes that I have installed. I have a long list of past purchases that just sitting on my back-up collecting e-dust. The planes that I have are the ones that give me a combination of excellent simulation, atmosphere and good looking planes that I will never be tired of looking at. I don't have time to getting into all planes and there are enough varieties on my list to pick at any given day. I also start to use FSCaptain for the ATP planes and enjoy being given a route to fly and earn some points from it. In real life, it is impossible that one could could possibly own and operate some many planes. So I pick and choose carefully and just plain enjoy the time flying. The reason you may not be interested in your other planes is just that they just does not give you the same interest as your favorites. October 16, 201312 yr Hi IFR Great collection you have there! Get FSCaptain and start getting your dispatches made for you. Also try out Steve's DX10 fixer-it transformed the sim for me. I do this now-am only flying the PMDG T7 as it's what I enjoy the most. If and when I tire or when SP2 for the NGX includes time compression,I don't see myself flying anything else Cheers Jay
October 16, 201312 yr I recently cleaned a lot of aircraft out of my sim. What I did was to list some categories of aircraft I was most interested in, then picked what I thought were the top 1 or 2 planes in each category (whether I owned them or not), then uninstalled pretty much everything else. For example, my categories included: GA: - Single engine complex prop - Twin engine piston prop - Twin engine turboprop Commercial: - Twin engine turboprop airliner - Regional jet - Medium range jet For some of the above categories I don't even have any aircraft but know which ones I'd like to add, but it's really helped me focus on just 1 or 2 planes and I will not add any more until I've learned them in depth and flown them a good deal. I'm looking forward to adding in future the Aerosoft CRJ, PMDG NGX and and RealAir Turbine Duke to fill in the empty slots, in the meantime I'm learning the PMDG JS4100 and RealAir Duke. October 16, 201312 yr I've never flown online (probably some deeply repressed fear), so a VA might be a good alternative. I was the same way until I bought a pretty nice (read: expensive) set of over-ear headphones. I basically figured if I bought them, then I'd be forced to fly on VATSIM. So I did. I spent about 15 minutes on the ramp just listening then realized I knew the proper lingo already and just went for it. It was a great decision. All that time spent watching youtube videos of people doing VATSIM flights and listening to RW ATC really paid off and I had no issues. For me, it brought back the spark that certain add-ons, or FSX in general, seem to lose after years of flying. It took the "routine-ness" out of it and added a whole new level of fun and obsession. I would recommend flying online to anyone. Slightly, but not totally related: Also, I'd learn the ins and outs of the MD-11. She may be aging, but holy crap is she fun. Just a thought I had haha Dave Wegner - Don't be afraid of common sense or the search function.
