Your opinion on my Night texture

For grins, here's approximately the same shot from FSX with FTX GlowBall.

Haha Global sure should be called GlowBall!

Hi,

I made the night texture for Toronto.

Here is the file, please check it and tell me your opinion about that, and especially when you compare it with your real observation, how it looks?

http://mohsenfff.dl1.rapidpars.com/4780/2551646/1cq63u49u1h/toronto_night.rar

and please test it with DX9. It may not be compatible with DX10.

I've lost track of what needs to go where as I removed your original files. Might be useful to do a full installation package and instructions as a catch up.

Hi - just want to let you know that I've downloaded and successfully installed your Toronto night scenery. You modeled an extensive area - not only the city itself and the GTA (Greater Toronto Area), but the entire eastern end of Lake Ontario - what we refer to as the 'Golden Horseshoe'. I am very impressed!

My initial impression of the night visuals is that they are incredible! I'm just getting started. I'll give you more detailed feedback later.

mohsenfff - a quick question for you. Before I comment on specifics, can you confirm that UTX (Canada) will not interfere with the appearance of your scenery? It doesn't seem to effect other photoscenery that I have, but I want to make sure it's not impacting the visual appearance of yours in any way.

Thanks!

Hi,

if you put my scenery on the top of the other sceneries in the scenery library, it will not interfere with any scenery. If you see any flaw, it is mine.

I've lost track of what needs to go where as I removed your original files. Might be useful to do a full installation package and instructions as a catch up.

Sorry, just create a new folder in add-on scenery and name in Toronto, for example, and then create two sub folder, name "scenery" and "texture" inside this folder and copy my files inside this new scenery folder, and add this folder to your scenery library in FSX and put it on the top of other sceneries.

If you're experiencing any frame rate hit just let me know.

So far, that's the only negative I'm experiencing. At high altitude or as I approach the perimeter, it's fine. At lower altitudes and in the thick of things, I'm getting bogged down into the lower to mid teens in FPS, and my machine is no slouch. On ILS final approach into Toronto International in the MilViz B732 (not a terribly frame-rate greedy aircraft), I dropped to 8.9 FPS at one point. (pic)

I presume displaying that sheer number of light objects (there must be 10's of thousands) has to have an impact.

Visually, it's the best night flying I've ever seen! I'm assembling a list of specific feedback items, but even if you did nothing, it would be excellent.

Thank you so much!

so before your feedback let me fix the frame rate issue and some problem with alleys lightning.

Thanks for that. I just remember with your original post there were some files that needed to go into the FSX global scenery folder, so just wanted to check. I can't try Toronto until tomorrow when I'll be looking forward to testing it out.

Hi

I modified the texture and lightning. . And here are a few pictures from dusk till dawn:2u8xgs5.jpgwmmfye.jpg2cmw8ib.jpg

I used the new texture for highway and streets, and I also added a new 3d light to the scene.. so I had to re upload the new files.

Furthermore, I fixed the frame rate issue. I get between 20 to 29 frame on Normal setting. On dense, my frame rate drop to 19 and on very dense, I get between 15 to 20 frame rate, and I mean scenery complexity not Autogen density,

I wanted to add more objects, lights, building and... but I wasn't sure about the performance. So if you're triyng this scenery, please report about the performance and frame rate.

And here is the new file:

also odourboy, please comment on this new texture.

Thank you for trying my texture.

Downloading now. I won't get a chance to install it this evening, but I'll try it tomorrow. Thanks moshenfff!

I sneaked off and installed the new scenery and gave it a quick try... something seems to be missing though, I've lost all my 3D lights. moshenfff, can you check the upload please? I noticed you put in 3 new .BGLs, light1.blg, light2.bgl & lighth3.bgl (I think those were the names, typing from memory) and removed two others, which I presume are responsible for the 3D lights. Anyway - the scenery is there, with the highways, additional buildings etc., but no 3D lights. Hmmmm...
