November 18, 201312 yr Mohsen, So I went ahead and deleted the lights2.BGL and added the new DX10-3DLIGHTS_0.BGL without renaming it. Enabled the Legacy Shader balanced to 'Scenery' and turned on the 8bit flag in General Shader. The good news is the base scenery looks perfect and matches your screenshot exactly. Now the not so good news... I'm STILL having troubles with the 3D lights. I do not get ANY 3D lights unless I also have the Orbx FTX Global BGL files 3D_Light_NEW_DDN_1_5 & 3D_Light_NEW_SDN4 active in my scenery library (I did not try each separately). With these on, I get 3D lights placed in the exact same position as yours in the screenshot, but I get a mix of white and sodium. With these two Orbx files 'OFF', I get no 3D lights. As a side test, I tried placing all of your 'Global' scenery and texture files in bot the FSX\Global\Scenery folder or in my add-on scenery Plymouth folder. It made absolutely no difference. 3D lights worked with the Orbx BGLs and did not without them. So I don't know if I'm seeing your scenery lights, Orbx scenery lights or some mix of each. Sorry, we're clearly made progress and I'd really like to help you but this 3D lights issue is still nagging me. I haven't actually installed your scenery yet but what you have done so far looks excellent! This latest post though has me wondering, this scenery isn't going to be dependent on owning FTXG, is it? That's what the latest post sounds like to me. I don't own FTXG and not sure I ever will. But, if/when you release something for areas I fly in, I will definitely be a customer of yours(whether it's freeware or payware). I just don't want to have to buy FTXG as well. Just curious if that's the case or this is just a coincidence? Thanks and again, excellent work so far!!!! Regards, Kevin LaMal "Facts Don't Care About Your Feelings" - Shapiro2024

I do not beleive it is Mohsen's intention that it be dependent on FTXG. In fact, it sometimes seems to be a source of confusion. I think it could be a real asset to have someone without FTXG involved in evaluating. Mohsen - I had another thought. Do you still have your Bristol scenery files active in your system? I recall that you had an earlier version of 3D lights that was similar to the Orbx 3D Lights BGLs. If that is anywhere in your scenery, it could that one be why you're seeing lights and I'm not. I have all your previous sceneries disabled in order to avoid any possible interaction issues. It's just so far I haven't flown in either area that he's made scenery for(Bristol and Toronto are the only two I know of). Sorry, and of course Plymouth most recently. Regards, Kevin LaMal "Facts Don't Care About Your Feelings" - Shapiro2024
November 18, 201312 yr I've never been to Toronto but lights is lights wherever you go. Give it a try the more the merrier. Afterthought... What I did was fly the area first and then install the scenery. Helps lots.

Because you are using dx10 fixer and this fixer is compatible with FTX, so those new 3d light also compatible with FTX. However, you don't have to SET FTX central ON to see the lights. You just need to have 3D_Light_NEW_DDN_1_5 in your BGL folder. You do not need to have FTX GLOBAL installed at all. By the way, did you like the new texture? mohsenfff, I've been watching this thread from afar ever since you started it. November 18, 201312 yr klamal, do you live in UK ? No. I live in the U.S. However, I have been flying around Europe a lot lately - mostly Norwegian routes. Regards, Kevin LaMal "Facts Don't Care About Your Feelings" - Shapiro2024

What about the occurrence of sodium (orange) in some spots on my system where your screen shot shows white in those spots? It's a pretty minor difference, but I'd really like to make sure we're looking at the same thing. (It would be unfair, for example, if I were to complain about too much yellow, if in fact you're looking at more white than me!) So, moving on... First, a disclaimer. I've never flown over Plymouth at night and could not find any aerial photos on the web to suggest to me what a suitable balance of intensities and mix would be for that city. So, just going by my gut and how I think it would translate to other cities: I really like the introduction of more colours in the scenery which is not roadways. In terms of a how you process the scenery, this may be the best yet. I have two suggestions for what I feel would improve the appearance (and these are very minor tweaks). We all complained about the highways being too bright in past scenery. Now, I think the scenery is overall not quite bright enough. Second, the yellow lighting on some of the minor roads would look better if the hue was shifted more orange. To illustrate these two suggestions, I did a 'Before' and 'After' screenshots. The screenshots are with the 3D lighting and Ramp lighting disabled on purpose to more clearly illustrate without distraction. Here's the original image: Here's one that I touched up in Photoshop to describe my suggestions: Maybe I went too far, but I think you get the idea. November 18, 201312 yr One other thing. I wanted to bring to to your attention a bit of a performance related comment. I noticed that when I flew into the Plymouth area from outside (less so when taking off from Plymouth airport) that my FPS was bogging down. Normally nailed at 30 (which probably means 50 or 60 if I took the limiter off), I found approaching Plymouth, I'd slip to the mid to low 20's. Once I got over Plymouth, the issue faded away. I tried this repeated and found it was a real phenomenon. Turns out that it's related to your Ramp light effects (those splashes of bright white, particularly predominant in downtown Plymouth). When I disabled those, my FPS never dropped below 30. Very curious that a relatively small effect could have such an impact on performance. So I bring this attention so you can look at how you constructed this and maybe find a different way to achieve it. If we were over a major city where you had hundreds of these 'splashes', it could be a showstopper. Whatever... I have a pretty powerful machine that's well greased. I wouldn't bring it up if I didn't think it was a potential issue. Your choice to investigate or not. Bojote's tweaks are mostly obsolete by several years and are mostly not required on a modern machine running FSX + Acceleration. I let him butcher my FSX.CFG once, but never again! I have a few tweaks applied, but the AVSIM approved kind. I don't see you machine specs in your profile. What resolution are your running at? Your screen shots and videos always seem to be of only moderate quality. Low resolution can hide a performance issue as could a very fast machine. Roads lit by sodium lights tend to glow. Originally, they were a bit too orange. Now they are too dull. Your example images point out the issue perfectly. Its just a matter of 'fine tuning' the hue so it's somewhere between your two examples I feel.
November 20, 201312 yr Author OK I'll make the changes as you requested, and I'll release the new version in a few days. My main concern now is the right to use satellite imagery. It seems it is illegal to use Google's images without their'r permission. It wasn't my intention to use their satellite image to make money. I just wanted to use them as reference for drawing roads, but unfortunately, people may use my scenery to fly during the daytime too. So it may get me in trouble in the future.
November 23, 201312 yr Author Hi guys,I changed some settings as you suggested. I remapped the road's lightning. For example, I added more color, brightness and shadow to the main roads. Also I tuned the residential road's lightning, so they seem dim in distance and gradually beginning to show up when you're flying directly over them. I did this to simulate the night environment , I like to know what do you think about this new approach do you think the brightness of residential roads is enough? And do you think is it ready to go to the next stage which is for whole UK, or it still needs more work? here is the download link : http://mohsenfff.dl.rapidpars.com/4780/2714371/hfchj6cmgmz/plymouth%282%29.rar Thank you.
