November 2, 201312 yr Author Looks great and more realistic than FTX Global or UTX. Please make for the whole United States. I have been waiting for something like this being as I use only use photo scenery. OK, I'll take it into the consideration. If there is a good market there I can work on the US first.
November 2, 201312 yr Thank you so much odourboy I think you were mange to read my last post before it got all y . Sorry for that, I couldn't edit the post. You made very good and smart points. The reason for putting Autogen out of places was due to the time limit I had to make it quick and my main focus was on the textures and lightning, if I'm going to make it commercial, I will definitely pay more attention to these details. I even wanted to use Google 3d models for high-rises. And about highway, you are right it is too bright. I did put some white light between the yellow grid lines, but I suppose I have to add more. And yes I did't uses the reddish and pinkish road in Toronto. That was awkward. modeling the more populated area was very very good suggestion, there is no need to develop a technique for smooth transition, I can simply use a blend mask for that. however, the idea to stick to the populated area to save time and space was great. So let me review again: 1-adjust highway brightness to keep a balance between main roads and street 2-using brighter "white'" lightning instead of "yellow" for mall and parking lot. 3-using yellow/white color for urban area instead of bright orange. 4-smooth transition between suburban and urban area and default texture. That was very good idea why I should make a night texture for an area that is not populated? So that's all? I mean are you sure that's all I need to make my scenery more realistic? After UK, I'll definitely work on US. For now let stick to a smaller area to see where we'll go with this project. However, I don't know which market worth to put my time and energy into it. once again thank you so much for your detailed information . This screen shot looks to be moving the the right direction, but is it possible for you to post a higher resolution one? (Say 1920 X 1080 or more?) or save it to the AVSIM library or ImageShack.com? Since my scenery files seem out of sync with yours, a reasonable compromise would be nice high-rez screen captures to critique. I'd like to continue to contribute and that is best facilitated with clear, hi-rez images. Also, if at some point you want to take another try at sharing the scenery files, I'd be interested. If you do so, please package EVERYTHING rather than an increment so that we can remain in sync. Also, please do try to ensure that there aren't any dependencies on other files in your FSX scenery library that are required for correct viewing. Finally, I recommend you adopt/support DX10 at your earliest convenience. As you know, both Darkstar and I are DX10 users and now that Steve's DX10SceneryFixer is out, I suspect the majority of serious simmers have stepped over to 'the dark side'. November 2, 201312 yr Here's a shot from fs9 for comparison. But using a night texture available free on avsim. I like the mix of white and orange. Also the orange is more realistic in terms of the UK at least. Having said that the orange in the uploaded image appears washed out compared to the original screen grab. November 2, 201312 yr I couldn't stop myself from picking at this and I'm pretty sure now that one of my issues is the difference between DX10 and DX9. There is some white lighting you added near some intersections that wasn't showing up in DX10 that is there in DX9. So, my bad! I still can not understand why your 3D lights look so different in the shot you provided (post #85 - first pic) from the same location after the shot I put up (post # 83 last pic). I definitely have the toronto_lights2.bgl (95K) that you sent out in the update (post #78). DX9 or DX10 makes no difference. I tried deactivating UTX Canada, no difference, tried disabling FTXG, not difference.... at a loss over this one. I'm working on that to make them compatible with all systems.

November 7, 201312 yr Author Hi,I was working on the Manchester city night texture. Hope you guys be ready to test the new file. I tried to take your recommendations and advice into the consideration. In the later posts, I'll talk more about changes. The file will be ready in the few hours. Thank you again for your participation in this project.
November 7, 201312 yr Cool! In the mean time, here's an aerial photo of Manchester by night: Heading is about 075 from 32000 ft. Lights from Sheffield off to the upper right. and here: Downtown Manchester, facing due east from about 2000 ft [email protected] - ROG Strix Z790-E - 2X16Gb G.Skill Trident DDR5 6400 CL32 - MSI RTX 4090 Suprim X - WD SN850X 2 TB M.2 - XPG S70 Blade 2 TB M.2 - MSI A1000G PCIE5 1000 W 80+ Gold PSU - Liam Li 011 Dynamic Razer case - 58" Panasonic TC-58AX800U 4K - Pico 4 VR HMD - WinWing HOTAS Orion2 MAX - ProFlight Pedals - TrackIR 5 - W11 Pro (Passmark:12574, CPU:63110-Single:4785, GPU:50688)
November 7, 201312 yr How does this compare with the above two pics? After a left turn to the north after take-off from 05L Super VC10 into LOWI with PF3 at a cinema near you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=298UDyNmgUA
November 7, 201312 yr Author How does this compare with the above two pics? After a left turn to the north after take-off from 05L mannight.jpg Is it general texture? I mean does it replace the FSX default night texture? And did you make it yourself?
November 7, 201312 yr How does this compare with the above two pics? After a left turn to the north after take-off from 05L mannight.jpg It seems okay but I can't really evaluate based on a single isolated screen shot at low altitude and taking in very little breadth of scenery. What do YOU think of your scenery compared to the pictures is what really matters. November 7, 201312 yr Is it general texture? I mean does it replace the FSX default night texture? And did you make it yourself? It's the free night textures on avsim for FS9 mentioned further back. I think the colouring is pretty good giving a good mix between the sodium and white lights. Adapted to FSX It would look quite good I think.
