November 30, 201312 yr I think it's exactly what the doctor ordered for United Kingdom. I'm in love. Not my video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7BCZx-5axZA&feature=youtube_gdata
December 1, 201312 yr So far I'm really enjoying the autogen, it does have it caveats (see photos), like all autogen on photoscenery but overall I'm very pleased and impressed. Some shots near Glasgow with photoscenery I'm working on for England. Check out my frame per second, on a laptop even, never could do this much autogen and trees with FSX. P3D for the win.
December 2, 201312 yr The trees and hedgerows are fine but the buildings are absolutely awful..So default and generic it destroys any form of realism. I was afraid that might be the case. There was something about the buildings in the screenshots that just didn't look right to me. Some shots near Glasgow with photoscenery I'm working on for England. Has Glasgow moved then? Maybe it doesn't fancy voting in the independence referendum? December 2, 201312 yr I certainly wouldn't call the buildings "awful", much better than Switzerland Pro and Germany VFR. I think Revolution X has done an excellent job of blending the autogen in with the photoscenery. Maybe check your system settings to tweak the look a bit. Here's a couple Glasgow shots for my British friend:

December 3, 201312 yr To be fair Scripted those two pics for Glasgow do look good. FAR more Autogen than I had when taking of from Birmingham...Another big city...was probably only about 20% populated (FS Global looked much better) May I ask your settings as I moved my slider up to max...don't know what more I could do. Dave
December 3, 201312 yr I use shadows on high. Textures at 4096x4096. You will have to tweak the other settings to allow the shadows which is important for realism. Try the autogen over default P3d rather than Horizon Genx which is washed out and doesn't match well with the look of autogen.
December 5, 201312 yr But if it's not used over the photoscenery it sort of defeats the purpose, doesn't it?
December 5, 201312 yr Try the autogen over default P3d rather than Horizon Genx which is washed out and doesn't match well with the look of autogen. As this product is advertised specifically for GenX, should it not be that the autogen does not match the photo scenery and might it not be better if it did? It claims also to populate the scenery, how can it do this if the scenery is not active? I would like something like this but not if it covers up the photographs with default looking autogen buildings, I can see them anywhere I like and with a little landclass and vector scenery, more or less in the right places. Regards, Nick
December 5, 201312 yr So the Revolution X buildings do not accurately sit on top of building images in the photoscenery? That's the impression I have had when looking at screenshots of this product. Frankly, that would annoy the hell out of me. December 5, 201312 yr I think you'll find that true with all autogen, even Orbx isn't perfect, although they are better than most. The deal with photoscenery is that accuracy will depend on where you get your scenery from, in other words, what map service. Some are better than others and I would think that this product would work better with scenery that is higher definition. The GenX scenery is around 1 meter in resolution, more or less. It is certainly not 60cm as advertised.
December 5, 201312 yr The GenX England and Wales scenery is advertised as 1.2m per pixel, with several cities at 60cm resolution in Version 3. The GenX Scotland scenery is 60cm resolution throughout. December 5, 201312 yr Just bought Revolution X and given it a quick try out. It is an improvement on just bare photo scenery but don't expect too much from it. I have found some areas totally lacking any autogen even with my sliders set at max (e.g. around EGFF Cardiff airport along the south coastal area ). I also find the trees rather sparse. My only other major critisism is the night lighting is very erratic switching on and off in great swathes whenever you pan the view. Don't know if this could be due to one of my settings needing tweaking but Orbx Global 3D lighting works fine ( not in photo scenery of course). I would give it 7 out of 10 - and 8 out of 10 - if I can get the night lighting to work. Barry Barry Wells
