Welcome to the X club. I was an FS user since version 2 and found my new home here. XP has so many great features. I missed so many things at first but meanwhile I'm really happy.

I'm a new x-plane user since last week :-)

It offers lots of great features and it is still ... maintained (one of the most important point for me : there is hope some features evolve or are corrected in the futur :-) ).

It has pro and cons as lots of users already said in previous posts and quite a lot of good add-ons (airplaines, scenries), and lots (!) of free airports.

It is too early for me to say if I will abandon or not FSX, but today I'm a very happy x-plane user and I'm happy to have the choice between FSX and X-plane.

The LES DC3 is great, the Saab 340, the Felis An-24 a MUST have, some great helicopters too, SimHeavens scenery, Alpilot's scenery ( New Zeeland ) and Mesh, Sky Maxx Pro and Urban Maxx, all of the Carenados, I also like the C74 models!, etc...

10.30 will, hopefully, bring yet other good reasons to feel very glad about the future of X-plane 10.

This being said, I can no way leave FSX specially now in DX10 mode, and probably P3Dv2 as soon as the first service patch get's released. I thought I could, but no way... X-plane offers a lot of interesting features, but cannot, IMO, cover so well all of what is covered by MSFS and P3D. I have to use both...

IL2 Sturmovik BOS will join latter today :-), just to test the supposedly SUPERB! flight dynamics!

I am having fun....Made a change in plans on acrft  until I get the hang of the 3d cockpits, got 2 GA acrft twins and the Caravan, I am learning more each day and finding some good sceneries out there, any Norway or Finland freeware stuff out there? I feel the dark side coming over me, LOL

For Finland try, both freeware and payware

Welcome aboard!  Be patient switching from MSFS to X-Plane is like going from Windows to MAC.......

Approach it with an open mind and you will see what an awesome sim we have :D

I am having fun,

Polar, I'd say not abandon any of the three Musketeers.  What I want to acheive, truly dictates for myself, which flight platform I click on for that flight.  Right now, I feel that there is not one flight simulator platform that 'corner's the market entirely...not one!

FSX/P3D for it's fabulous and mature A.I. and ATC simulation, depiction of seasons, etc

Xplane X.x for fabulous instrumentation-deploy, immersive effects, terrain-following runways, and on and on...

FS9 for killer rendition of Big Iron, systems performance, its own good use of A.I.-ATC, etc

You made a really great choice to add Xplane to your simulation interests, and will have a blast with it.  Perhaps it will take you to the 'dark side', lol...and you end up using it more than not!  The others that you have?  Make use also of their great strengths...and be the winner, all round.

My 12 cents... :)   Oh...after you check out a few freebie sleds here and there about....you will find great value and pleasure in the system models and cockpit effects that Xplane has in store for you.  I have two Carenado (the Bonanza and now the C90B) purchases in the hangar right now,  and the Saab is looking really good! :)

Agreed. Though I abandoned FS9 many years ago, I regularly run P3D 1.4, XP10 and even AeroFly from time to time. Even considered re-installing MS Flight for the missions. I will soon add P3D v2 to the collection, too. Each have their strengths and weaknesses and can co-exist happily on the same computer.

 OB one I have come over to the dark side. I am so happy I gave XP a chance, what a great experience so far. Now lets get a better ATC and seasonal textures. To all developers this is the sim I am sold.
