FSX Freeware Front End?

Featured Replies

Hello All! I remember seeing an FSX front end somewhere (a program that allows you to select aircraft, location, time and date, etc., outside of FSX and then start a flight with your chosen parameters), but I can't locate it now. Does anybody know what I am talking about? Thanks,

Paul

Sim Launcher. All aircraft work just fine... it all depends how savvy you are with fsx, really.

I'm currently helping the talented developer with the new, much superior version 'X' of this software. So far, lots of bug fixes and some of the coolest features you will ever experience in FSX & P3D 2.0. It will be a freeware/donationware as far as I'm concerned, but the programming is top notch regardless.

No release date, so please don't ask. It's feeling close though.

One of the coolest features, no more selecting runway/parking off a jump menu! All parking spots, runways, helipads and taxiways are marked on a map, you click the starting point you want and you're GTG. You can also place your aircraft wherever you want in the fsx world, ie, not just in parking spots, runways etc'. You can also custom the systems state for each flight or use ready-made presets such c&d, electronics On only, engines running and a recently added "mid-air".

I wasn't refering to a/c, but to some scenery addons that use dlls to run the scenery, like FSDT and Flightbeam. I haven't experienced it first hand since I load FSX the regular way, but i've read in the FSDT forum Umberto helping people with issues that were caused from using external programs to load FSX.

Worth a shot trying it with this program if its freeware since you have nothing to lose.

SL does not mess with your scenery cfg to cause such issues. I used it for 4-5 months in a row.

With the old version tho, you have to run 'make runways' each time you install a new scenery. Luckily, the new version is working entirely different and does not depend on mkrwy anymore.

why can't you download SL v9.2 anywhere. It's like it vanished of the internet......or maybe it's just me

Look forward to this how will we know when it's released.

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

SimLauncher does load FSX the regular way - nothing special at all. Works like a charm, the only 'issue' I have is I haven't figured out yet whether I can tell it to just load a saved flight situation (sometimes you just need to do that).

It's not freeware, but Ideal Flight by codelegend is a great front end utility. There's nothing that it wont let you do: from picking a plane to creating automatic flight plans, adding failures, monitoring your flying, creating weather, and, of course, starting FSX with one click. The list of features is simply too long to list.

The developer provides excellent support.
