January 13, 201412 yr Hi, my textures look like they are swimming in the distance, especially airport taxiways..... And trees and roads! <br /><br />I run 16x anisotropic and 4xfxaa with HDR on.<br /><br />Am I missing something? Ian
January 14, 201412 yr Its apparently something to do with the way that the sim handles textures. Believe me I've noticed it and hate it. The only way I've been able to lessen it is with pretty draconian amounts of AA and avoiding HDR mode.. HDR mode brings into play XPX's deferred rendering engine. The advantage is lots of light sources and a few cool effects. The disadvantage is that an already shimmery sim gets even shimmery......er. Right now there is almost no effective way to cut down on the shimmering which is not also a FPS killer, which is also why I have never ever liked any deferred rendering engines. We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically. January 14, 201412 yr I hate the swiming effect too. Its one of the reasons I dont use HDR during the day. It looks better without it. But for night flying, its a must have and you dont see the shimering. Rob
January 14, 201412 yr Isn't 10.30 coming with an update to the OpenGL (not sure what noun comes here)? Will that not have any bearing on AA? i910900k, RTX 3090, 32GB DDR4 RAM, AW3423DW, Ruddy girt big mug of Yorkshire Tea
January 14, 201412 yr 10.30 is coming with an update for almost everything.... Indeed, so many updates are due, I believe it would rather be X-Plane 11 already :-) Many issues, features, updates will, apparently, be included, so, I am eager to see what it brings, and I really don't mind waiting :-) Meanwhile, I am enjoying the two best Airbuses ever made available for this sim ( there is a third, the A380... ) Peter's A321 and the QPAC A320. Whow guys! Call it a superb FBW implementation! January 15, 201412 yr Ben Supnik NEVER gives out detailed plans in advance (for some good reasons he often talked about) .... only when things are finished (or almost finished) will they be listed. And usually you get the real details in the change log, when the new beta cycle starts. At the moment your best bets for some "information" are the latest interviews done here by AVSIM or over at flightsim.com. http://forum.avsim.net/page/interviews/interview_with_ben_supnik_tri.html http://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/content.php?14518-Interview-Ben-Supnik-Future-Of-X-Plane Andras Fabian / Alpilotx Visit www.alpilotx.net, a site about X-plane scenery You can see some landscape and other photographs from me here: http://www.flickr.co...s/weathermaker/
January 15, 201412 yr Ben and Austin, but I take my hat to their work and dedication, as well as your work, Andras, that of PilotBalu, and many others making X-Plane 10 so good... Yesterday I started FSX with DX10, Orbx FTX Global, and the PMDG 777. Set it at LPPT ( don't know why... ), ASN was pumping in it's SUPERB weather and PMDG was giving me stable fps, not to high because my rig isn't the top... I had been mostly flying X-Plane 10 during the last weeks... Guys, it felt soooooo strange, so "artificial", so less realistic in the short / medium distance, to my eyes, now acostumed to the SimHeaven photo and OSM sceneries, plus some great airport add-ons...aircraft, etc... It's impossible for me, even under the "bloom" effect of some of the best add-ons, to feel like I felt before when using FSX... it's outdated, that's probably the best word I can find to express what I feel ... Let's wait for the ( I guess brilliant ) future X-Plane 10, and 11... will bring ;-) Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)

Hi Jcomm! I am not sure, as English is not my mother language, but i do not really understand what You are saying here. XPlane is looking artificial to You, even with some of the great latest add-ons in use there and FSX is outdated? ... or what exactly? Please do not get me wrong: Your opinion and choice is Yours, but as an interested reader and followr of thtis thread, i am just trying to understand the content and meaning of Your latest post here. Cheers, Christoph Enjoy flying and happy landings.
