19JAN14 - 777-300ER and 777-200LR/F SP1 Update

Recommended Posts

While I would appreciate a newer update (which is what I'm guessing is more along the lines of what you're asking for), I'd imagine a lot of the optimization and fixes that will be present in the 777LR/F SP1 will be making their way into SP2 for the NGX.  As such, SP1 for the LR/F will have to come out and prove to be stable before they can even think about discussing SP2 for the NGX further.

Just my thoughts, anyway...

Yeah, I really hope that it'll come before the 744V2 and shortly after the 777 SP1 and -300ER launch.

You're joking right?

Just in case you're not, think NGX 6/700 expansion.

Oh dear! No news on the taxi cam!!!!! (Something interesting is to taxi the long beast and still stay within the taxiway no matter how tight the turns are without having to go to external views but stayin in VC mode)

Don`t think so. PMDG released a statement a long time ago saying that the B747v2 will be released within 2 to 3 months of the initial B777X release. Up to now not even a single picture as an update on the B747v2 development progress to say nothing of it being released. We all know that before a release by PMDG there will be pictures initially then videos on the products. Up to now as what the Bee Gees will say ..."It`s only words......"

They meant 'years'.

...but they've long held the position that these are notional values, and that things change.

You do realize you posted this in the thread that updates you on both of those items, and this thread is from less than two weeks ago...right?

Yes. We are doing a tonne of BAK KWA baking this CNY behind the scenes. The work goes on 24 7. I wonder how the customers feel that after 5 months they have nothing but just words to go by. Even the B777ER there are only a couple of pictures to proof the work goes on. Those pictures could just come from just about any freeware B777 downloaded from anywhere on the internet.

hahahahahahahahahahahahah...are you serious???

So you're suggesting that PMDG took the money from the 777, and just ran off with it?  So why would they bother baiting people with pictures (that are apparently stolen from some freeware project that nobody's heard of)?  It's not like they've taken money from anyone in support of the 300ER, so it's not like they need to fake their "stakeholders" out on that one.  If there are no stakeholders, then there's no reason to bait people if you're not going to release it.  The SP you might have an argument for, but even then, that's a huge stretch.

What do you want?  Screen captures of the code?  Honestly, if you think the aircraft pictures are just ripped off from some third party, then the only thing that will satisfy you and disprove your baseless conspiracy theories is simply releasing the products.  If that's the case, then I suggest you somehow find some patience (and a little reality).

Going on the fact that they've been releasing products for quite some time now, to a decent amount of success, it would be in their best interest to keep releasing things as it's solid income for them.  Why they'd spontaneously stop is beyond me, and nothing more than ridiculous conspiracy, for reasons I cannot even fathom.

Morpheus will be at your door soon to offer you the choice of a red or blue pill.  I suggest taking the red one and coming to reality.

Nope. No need for screen capture for their code. In fact if you notice they have started to avoid talking about the taxi camera also. I remembered a posting by RSR the item that they do not think is ready when the B777-300ER is released is the taxi camera. Maybe they can enlighten us on this item instead of having us guessing. Yes or no will suffice. Not much credibility added on by saying maybe or maybe not. No links to youtube on some of the functionality being worked on? No? What about youtube videos explaining to us what has been worked on IN THE SERVICE PATCH. You cannot say we haven`t paid for this so they are required to provide an answer to that. You can always say that for the B777-300ER we cannot ask for anything or information as we havent paid for it yet but the B777-200LR? BTW they also have not released a list of items being resolved but "the work goes on" kinda reply. I just noticed a freezing of the VC cockpit in a long flight. The only way to get about it is by cycling through the views by pressing A. Anyways to get around this since you seem to know PMDG`s working and product release so well?

Quite the contrary.  He specifically addressed the issue saying that they haven't found a stable way to implement it.  If they had started to avoid talking about it, he wouldn't have even mentioned it in hopes people would just forget.  I think you may need a refresher on the word 'avoid' because it's precisely the opposite of what happened in the post.

He did.  He said it probably wouldn't be ready for the release of the product.  No sane developer would lock themselves in to a 'yes' if they haven't found a stable way to implement this late, and no developer is going to state categorically 'no' that it won't make it if they're continuing to work on it.

I wouldn't really expect that.  They really haven't been big on releasing things on YouTube.  Most of that stuff comes from people like me, Luke, and Froogle, and it's all volunteer.  I plan on doing exactly that when I'm allowed to.  Either way, as I mentioned above, they're not locking themselves in to telling everyone what's in it, and what's not in the SP yet because some of the items are still being worked on and you don't want to lock yourself in to a yes or no if you're not sure a feature will make it.

Look at my last post.  Go re-read it.  I'll wait...

Even if they decided to disappear tomorrow with all of our money, we all have a product that works (or has the capability to on most all of the support issues I've seen here in the forum - user misconfigs and so on).  That's a lot more than can be said for many of the other developers in this hobby.  This is why I said it's a huge stretch.  Regardless, accusing someone of what you're accusing them of really isn't going to make them want to share information with you.

Right...see above, again.

As a devloper you walk a fine line.  You don't want to overpromise, but you don't want to underwhelm.  If you commit to something like that too early, then you're likely going to either overpromise, or underwhelm.  Why force their hand?  He said they'd likely get it to the beta team in about two weeks (from the 19th).  Why not be a little patient and wait for that time period to expire before getting huffy, and to be quite honest, rather petulant?

Yes, but that's an issue with FSX in and of itself, so it can't be "fixed" through programming/SPs.  Since you're giving me absolutely no reason to go out of my way to help you, I'll leave you with the fact that the intro manual explains how to deal with it.

Never asked for your help. Was just highlighting the slow and almost no usable information given by PMDG that was all. It`s not about over promising. Imagine on next monday I went back to work and I told my client. "The work goes on".

No prizes to guess where the next contract award will go.
