19JAN14 - 777-300ER and 777-200LR/F SP1 Update

Some details on the progress of the patch will do nicely? Something like a summary list of say 56 items out of 56763 bugs has been fixed is is running stable on most computers we have run it on. The main item amongst these bugs namely the saving of status.....Has been resolved. Better than it will be released when it is ready or the work goes on. At least we have an idea on the progress that has been going on.

Probably best not to speak too soon, especially when, as far as we have been made aware, the beta testers don't even have it yet. You don't really want a situation where they think they've fixed it, and by some chance, when beta testers get a hold of it and test it, they manage to break it from doing something that the development team hasn't expected. Or worse yet, something that was previous working no longer works properly. As a beta tester for another company, I personally had something like that happen. Something that had previously been working before ended up no longer working, and it wasn't until the beta testers had gotten a hold of it that it was discovered. So I see where you're getting at, I just don't necessarily agree with it.

Actually setting a target date is not to say bad also. There is an item I have wanted to do in real life but havent gone by setting a date for it. It has now been delayed for almost a year now. Without a target date, you will feel that you have lots of time and will keep putting it off.

Well, depends on your take, really, and what it is you're trying to do. As a business, I would think PMDG would want to try to get these things out, otherwise they aren't making money. I see where you're getting at, and it makes sense, but I'm looking at this from a different point of view. You set a target date, suppose during that time, something else breaks that requires more re-programming, or even worse, and I'm going next to worst case scenario just to make my point, but suppose a family member of somebody on the development team dies (no, I do not wish for that to happen) and they obviously need time away from the project to do whatever is necessary. Everything then gets pushed back, and then what happens. People start complaining that they "didn't release on time," not even taking into consideration the events that took place in the first place. This is one of those things where it's damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Yeah, I'm getting tired of waiting, too.  I really can't fly the 777 at all.  It's quite annoying...

It's not about whether you can fly it or not. It's about it meeting your expectations, and not causing you to gravitate toward another aircraft instead.

The trim issue for example, may be no big deal to you, but for me and some others who like to hand fly, it is. There's also a real world 777 pilot on the forum who feels the same way. Thus... there's a tendency to fly other add-ons instead.

There's something rather off putting "for me" about an add-on that has a major flaw in regard to something as basic as trim.

That's just my subjective opinion, it doesn't require a counter argument or sarcasm, because as I say, it's a subjective opinion, and you no doubt have a different subjective opinion, which is equally valid "for you". Just as I accept your subjective opinion, you should also accept mine.

Yea we are all getting tired of you mentioning  the trim issue they know about it  just let it go

There is no other 777 addon better than PMDG. Are you talking about Captain sim ? LOL !

Listen carefully...

The trim issue was mentioned for one reason and one reason only.... "as an example", quite frankly because I have no other issues with the add-on to serve as an example. The fact "they know about it" is utterly irrelevant to the point I was making. Feel free to choose another "issue" to also serve as an example, I don't care which you choose.

The point, is that too many people respond to subjective opinion with some kind of counter argument or sarcasm, which is a bit illogical really considering it's personal preference we are talking about. We live in a free society don't we, no thought police. We all have different likes and dislikes, personal preferences, which is our right.

I'm sorry you didn't see the point I was making.

Who said 777 add-on. I said "gravitate toward other add-ons". 777, Dash 8, Citation X, take your pick.

But I'm sure you jest.

48 items have been fixed.

3 major items remain under investigation.

Other items (improvements, tweaks, and so on) are not enumerated due to their tentative nature.

HOW DARE THEY NOT SHARE THIS INFORMATION!!!111!!1!111!

Oh right...they did...continuously...since release:

I'd hardly consider the trim on the 777 basic, and that's the issue.

The comment wasn't aimed at you.  It was aimed at those who are utilizing hyperbole simply to make a statement and call for attention.  Yes, the trim issue is toublesome and it pulls me out of the element.  Hec, there's a Washington Post article that quotes me as saying nothing bothers me more than that - no joke - so I understand your frustration.  My issue is that the plane works, and the trim issue is actually a much better than when it first came out.  Granted, end users shouldn't have to appreciate a still somewhat flawed implementation, regardless of how rough it was in the beta.  I get it.  Still, it's functional, so the people saying they refuse to use it, or don't use it, are making a choice to do so.

I agree with you.  I'm not flying it as much as I think I would if I knew I could hand fly it more precisely.  At the same time, I don't think the issue is so egregious that people have the ground to get terribly upset that there isn't a fix out yet.  It's technically useable in the meantime.

500+ hours later and this is an extremely flyable aircraft. Some people make it sound like it's a Captain Sim aircraft......

I didn't mean basic in that context Kyle, perhaps my phrasing could have been better. It most certainly isn't basic, it's an element of a very sophisticated system. I meant basic in terms of it being basic to the functioning of the aircraft. Something that is required to be functioning properly to hand fly realistically.

Still, it's functional, so the people saying they refuse to use it, or don't use it, are making a choice to do so.

Precisely, it's a choice. I agree that to state the case hyperbolically is rather silly in this case, or in the case of any issue that's avoided out of preference rather than because it's a show stopper.

Thank you for your kind advice. That was just for the patch update but the requested B777-300ER? Oh wait....New reason....We havent paid for it yet.......So no information on it right?

What are you, a lawyer?

With kind regards, Bogdan Misko.

Albeit, for a patch it has taken a long time; but you must respect that every piece of software that gets released will have bugs. It is best if we stop complaining about the problems. They've been reported and fixed (all but 3). Yes, you spent $90 on a product that has bugs, but what did you expect for a first release of a product? I wouldn't have expected less than several bugs, some major, some minor.

I personally believe it is better to wait for a product to be out for a while before investing in it, as seen with the PMDG 777. Once the -300ER and SP1 is released I will probably purchase the PMDG 777.

Kind regards,

Luke Bischoff

Fly by wire is one of the things that makes the 777 different from all previous Boeings. Yes I can fly the plane but it would be great to have the fly by wire simulated as accurately as possible. After all RSR is always telling us about all the effort put into simulating the exact electrical loadings etc yet the essence of the 777 is not fully captured.

PMDG have deservedly got the reputation for producing very good simulations and at the moment the 777 falls just short of that high standard. Hopefully this will be corrected once the service pack is released.

Regards

Nixon Thomas

It`s either the fault of FS X or our hardware configuration that is causing the software crashes. But that put aside, they are comming out with a patch for something that was released comming up to 5 months now. If MS worked at this speed I think all will get rid of Windows and went APPLE already!!!!

For what it's worth, there are still some major bugs in Office 2007.

Microsoft's "solution?"

"Buy 2010."

Seriously.  I used to teach Office classes and had to explain that in just about every 2007 class whenever something weird popped up.  Of course, did that look like me just blaming the program for me not knowing how to use it, or me pinning it on an actual MS bug?  Plus, any one of us who had XP from the beginning knows how long SP2 took to come out and fix the massive holes and issues therein.
