Some would say [not me] that perhaps they should have concentrated all their efforts, all their resources on just the patch. Maybe we would have it by now in that case.

Maybe lumping everything into one realise, ER, including the service pack, is more about PMDG convenience than customer convenience?

Just playing devils advocate. The opinion of some I believe, not necessarily me.

I know that the above isn't necessarily your opinion, but for those who believe the above sentiment, you must remember:

PMDG is a business.  Busniesses continue to exist by making profit (or at least covering costs).  The SPs are free.

...where do they cover the cost of putting people to work on the SPs?

The past sales and banking on future sales of new products.  If you held off new products to finish up with all of the past products, your business wouldn't last too long.

The SP is free because in a sense it's like a warranty. It corrects problems that occur once a product is sold. To answer your question re how are the costs covered I would suggest that any prudent company should allow for this in the initial cost or be certain that an SP is not needed.

...where do they cover the cost of putting people to work on the SPs?

Given that ALL products require service packs... such things are covered by the initial charge for the product.

Given that a large portion of SPs include more than just bugfixes (enhancements, updates, upgrades, responses to user requests), I'd safely assume that not each and everything is covered by the initial charge for a product.

No, I'm not implying that this SP will not be for free, it's rather about enhancements that might be worth a wait.

What happened to AVSIM

No matter even if it takes 2months extra to release sp, I will wait. I haven't got troubled with ctds and ooms (each occurred only once) but freezing is the problem but that too for 1 sec. I love the plane. I am desperately waiting to fly 777-300er in jet airways and air india livery.

I had a vision that RSR sir has given the date of sp1 and 300er next week.

Apart from this there will be fsla320, majestic dash8pro edition, aerosoft da cry, aerosoft a318/319, nsl a380. Flytampa yssy, taxi2 gate LTBA, etc later this year.

Fs2crew for dash8q400 will be releasing sooner as it is in final stages of completion.

Happy weekend guys. Take care.

It was an example of costs versus coverage. One could certainly factor in continuing support as part of a release (a good number of contracts I've seen do this in the realm I work in).

...but!

If all you did was factor it into the initial price and hold up future development to fix all previous issues, you'd have an unsustainable process. In order to sustain a business process, future developments need to continue.

Building it into the price is like trying to predict the future. Nobody's mastered that yet, so that's a huge bet. Having a way to continue to fund future operations - future products - is a more solid proposition. Problems are known values from past releases at that point. As such a more distinct monetary value can be assigned to ongoing support.

As far as your comment about ensuring an SP is not needed, I suggest you go to a class in ITIL, Agile, and perhaps a little programming. Ensuring an SP is not needed would put you out of business. I challenge you to find a company that has that practice (that's still in business).

Once again you give opinions about something you know nothing about: my education profession and business experience. Until you do I suggest you refrain from advising me on my continuing professional development. I am fully aware that it's unlikely that a piece of software will be released that does not need a SP. That is why I used the word "certain". I was using irony to make a point.

Saludos cordiales

Best regards
Sorry for my English do not write it very well

I am completely disappointed and sad so much was waiting for the PMDG 777 which I cannot understand as they not put 2D panel or any vista instead of the vacuum they left,

I hope that later you find an update where you can modify this error that left for just listening to some users, I would like to remind you that PMDG is global, and each one has their own opinion, you should have heard both parties who didn't want 2D panel and those that if wanted

I made the purchase of the aircraft and did not want to use that I thought that the aircraft would have all the complete cockpit view,

I hope your answer and any arrangement to this considerable error

If I were you I would just learn to use VC, since I switched from 2D panel use some years ago I've never looked back. Virtual cockpit is gives just so much better immersion, I think guys at PMDG did the right thing by not wasting their time on 2D for this release.

I'm starting to question whether that post was a legitimate post or not, seeing as I just now saw the exact same post on the QualityWings forum. Okay, almost the exact same post, just replace PMDG with QW, and you have the exact same post found on their forum.

In all honesty I want  PMDG to take their time so that they can give us an awesome update to an already awesome plane. For example, if its going to take a month longer to figure out where that freezing issue comes from, then I will be more than happy to wait a month longer (or more) for a possible solution. In their bug tracking thread, there are around four items that they still are investigating (freezing one of them). Why not wait for fixes of those issues to be found before releasing the SP (if they can be found in an acceptable time frame).

I would find it cool if there would be more pictures of the 777-300ER on Facebook. Until now, there are only 5

Was just an idea of mine

I think the amount of "Ohhhh just release it" type posts reduces the motivation to post more  <_< Quite rightly so too.
