19JAN14 - 777-300ER and 777-200LR/F SP1 Update

Featured Replies

Experienced software houses have something like expected number of bugs to be found.

Means that as soon as betatesting starts, they expect a certain number of bugs in bugtracker. If the minimum goal is not met, it does not mean the software is good, rather than testing is bad.

Now, since there is SP1, 300ER and SDK coming in one package, I expect betatesting to be about the same timeframe as the prerelease one, meaning, we could reasonably expect at this point a March release, unless deviations happen (which is quite likely).

Honestly, if we had to wait until March, for the first service pack, with not a single fix in between, customers would go nuts. And as much as I get annoyed by constant moaning for hot fixes and updates... I would fully understand why.

Well, we do twice-a-year update on production environments and nobody is going nuts, so...

it depends, I guess?

RSR plays BF4. I would also, if I attended these forums here regularly.   :P

I must be bored to death IRL then. Just like those people who take their time to do calculations like:

Could very well be.

Kinda getting worn out on the glass flight decks anyway to be honest. What is your prediction for the DC-6 ?  :Nerd:

I have no prediction for that one.

For a change I started flying aircraft which "constantly pitch for speed" ... and ended up buying the PMDG J41!!! Serves them right, boring me to death with this never-ending wait for SP1!   :LMAO:

What happened to AVSIM

May seems pretty optimistic I would say at least July maybe August. I just fly the ngx now anyways. I got tired of waiting for sp1 for the 777.

Yeah, I'm getting tired of waiting, too.  I really can't fly the 777 at all.  It's quite annoying...

Two weeks since that last announcement. Any updates on the patch for the B777X?

Or better yet even on the B747V2? You guys also celebrating CNY over there in the states?

It will be released when it is ready? The work goes on? Get ready for the standard reply..............

To be honest guys, I will agree with some of you here on the fact that product and updates are coming too slowly for my liking.

I really thought of something when Robert (at the Munich conference) said that PMDG are releasing complex airliners too slowly and it was in PMDG's best interest to build a NGX 'platform' to then quickly build addons on top of it. This hasn't happened at all.

Now, with this in mind, we have no time frame and it has been 6months since the release.

Another question is that of planned product timelines, and I still cannot understand why this information is under lock and key that keeps getting sidelined. What is happening with the:

777-200er

777-200/A/B

737 NGX Update

Is it plausible idea to hire more staff to complete this process quicker?

This is my opinion guys, that is all, no flame.

Alex

No it is working "perfecly". Our fault we did not read the disclaimers, manuals...................................Just continue to wait.............It will be released when it is "ready".........

While all of this "back and forth" is very enlightening, I do look forward to the Service Pack and the 300ER. I currently do not have a properly working 77L. Normally, I would be quite upset with an "every day product" bought from the store that did not work properly. With regards to the PMDG 777, I can't honestly say that it is an "every day product".

On one hand, I do believe that it is the customers right, after having purchased a product, to receive it in proper working order OR to be able to exchange it for one that is. However, being that exchanging is pointless in this case and that there are many unforeseen variables in the software business, I trust that PMDG is working diligently to resolve some, if not all of the issues that have been realized. Especially the "freezing" issue.

Cheers,

I'm getting popcorn and waiting for standard reply Darren .

So what would you rather have them do, say it'll be ready by X date, and when that date comes and it's NOT ready, a riot on the forums? Having been in the flight simulator community long enough, I can almost assure you that if they did that, exactly that would happen.

Some details on the progress of the patch will do nicely? Something like a summary list of say 56 items out of 56763 bugs has been fixed is is running stable on most computers we have run it on. The main item amongst these bugs namely the saving of status.....Has been resolved. Better than it will be released when it is ready or the work goes on. At least we have an idea on the progress that has been going on.

Actually setting a target date is not to say bad also. There is an item I have wanted to do in real life but havent gone by setting a date for it. It has now been delayed for almost a year now. Without a target date, you will feel that you have lots of time and will keep putting it off.

So what would you rather have them do, say it'll be ready by X date, and when that date comes and it's NOT ready, a riot on the forums? Having been in the flight simulator community long enough, I can almost assure you that if they did that, exactly that would happen.
