19JAN14 - 777-300ER and 777-200LR/F SP1 Update

I think the amount of "Ohhhh just release it" type posts reduces the motivation to post more  <_< Quite rightly so too.

Is there going to be an announcement when the wide beta begins? I'm more than happy to wait, though I was wondering about whether or not that info will be info on that, or whether it would just be a matter of an eventual release with little precedent. Thanks, and can't wait for this amazing product!

I'm beginning to suspect a memory leak somewhere as I've been getting the first of many OOM's with this AC...

Despite running Tex Max Load at 1024 (no Higher), HIGHMEMFIX, Autogen on Dense, all shadows off and LOD Distance at 4.5, just flying over S FL. with no add ons other than FSDT KFLL, Rex, ASN, UT2 at 35%, and UTX with GEX, I've been getting OOM's.

Only flying for less than an hour when it happens.

If this is addressed in the SP1 it can't come fast enough for me!

Just checked in here after some time away. Looks like not much at all has changed from PMDG side. I actually flew my 777 to VCV in FSX months ago. I guess it will remain there.

Noticed a few changes in the issue tracking thread. See who can spot them. One refers to a timepiece and the other to L1234R1234

The fix that interests me [that I'm not allowed to mention] is still under investigation.

And it still continues not  going to make the sp1  come out any faster

I'm willing to bet yes, but as another hint (provided we aren't told to keep quiet for a certain period of time), you'll probably see a video from me not too long after.

Neither is your post.

But thanks anyway.

Some are taking the discussions here far too seriously. People are checking back on a regular basis for news, no problem with that, it's their right. While here, they are expressing opinions, passing the time. We shouldn't take it too seriously, it's just, chatting with those that have the same interests, hypothetical scenarios, minor complaints, likes dislikes, opinions, no big deal.

You can be sure that if anything offensive occurs, or anything that's against forum rules, then rather than it requiring your wisdom, your intervention, PMDG will deal with the matter. I know you mean well, but until that time, your attempts to guide the forum in the direction you see fit, aren't required. If you don't like what's being discussed here, don't read it.

I'd be interested to know your opinion regarding open betas Kyle.

With the Titanfall open beta about to be released, and of course DCS usually releasing their products as open betas, why is it you think that FSX developers have never gone down that route. I can see that in the early beta stages such a thing might create more issues than it solves, but perhaps in late beta it would be advantageous.

Kyle's wide beta is no open beta, Martin:

Wide beta means that the T7 build goes from the PMDG tech team to the official PMDG beta testers only.

I know... you didn't read my post properly.

Based on how about 90% of the issues immediately after release were all attributable to not reading the intro manual, I think an open beta would be a horrible idea in this community quite honestly.

Open beta, though it might have helped to find some of errors that popped up after release, would have just inundated the team with heaping amounts of false positives.  In the right setting, it might work, but in this one, I very much doubt it would be useful.

I guess you're right, although DCS seemed to get on okay, and an A10 or Black Shark is every bit as complex as an airliner. Probably more so when you consider the weapons systems.

Yeah.  I think theirs is more of a niche community.  There's no CTRL+E in their sim.  No shortcuts (to my knowledge*).  Learn or die.

Here, it's a very wide market, which is both good and bad.  Good in that if you can cater to the CTRL+Es and the realism folks, then you have a broad customer base.  Bad for open betas.  Some who are wholly unqualified will apply and submit a ton of false positives.  Others will apply because they think they know, but have no idea, and will submit a ton of false positives.

That's not to say DCS doesn't get a bunch of false positives, but I feel that their products are a little more niche, and the learning curve is so steep, it keeps the wrong people mostly at a distance for betas.

*I have their A-10.  Looks really cool, but I gave up because I don't have 52,000 button hardware to keep up with all of the things I need to be doing.

Never experienced such bug. Half of the time FSX crash is because of FSX itself. I change ND settings like 20 times during preflight when I am entering my route in FMC.

It happens when you display "plan" view on the lower center display only.
