Actually I have got track ir 5 (couldn't play prepar3d without it).

 

Couple of things I am still struggling with

1)I see the learjet45 in the prepar3dv2 aircraft folder (but its not appearing in game?)

2)for the affinity mask tweak is it the "prepar3d.cfg" file you need to alter I also notice there is a second file called "prepar3d" in type this is called .cfg but doesn't have .cfg in title................which one should you alter as they both seem to be settings files? 

3)Mickey you mentioned the Jim Dhaenen knpa freeware scenary - where can I download this from (tried google with no luck) also these 3 [scenery] tweaks you gave earlier is the number you give the number that work well in your system?

it is the prepar3d.cfg. Make sure you enable to see extensions in windows. Most likely on your PC it is the file without the extension. The other file might be the txt file. Open the one where you dont see the extension with editor.

 

Concerning the learjet, did you copy the lear jet folder from FSX into simobjects airplanes?

2)the one I was editing was the text one (wrong I think) - I guess I should be editing the cfg one - when I talk about text and cfg I mean what appears next to the file under "type" - just to be clear I think you are saying I should edit the one that under "type" that says cfg?

3)for the lear jet I saw under my simobjects in the prepar3d v2 install folder a learjet45 but It doesn't show up in my flyable planes menu? - I have then copied the learjet45 folder from my FSX install into the prepar3d to replace this learjet45 folder - the plane now appears but I get no dials in the cockpit?!

4)in terms of all add ons like ftx global and mega airport heathrow is there in preferred order they should be appearing in the scenary priority list?(note I  always run the flush scenary index from the FTX Central menu whenever I add new scenery) - also found for my rex4 sometimes had to install my textures a couple of times before they appear into my prepar3d!?

Open a folder and under 'Folder Options' uncheck 'Hide extensions for known file types'.

 

You can also find Folder Options in Control panel, under 'Appearance and Personalization.'

Asuming your using win7 open explorer look for folder options. I dont know what it is called in english i have the german version of win7.

 

In my P3D2 the leatrjet is visible and flyable. I will test your procedure and report back.

 

Concerning ORBX the FTX Central will do everything for you. You can run the installer again and everything should be fine. If not contact ORBX support.

did what you did except making a backup copy of the P3D Lear.  copy and paste the FSX one into P3D2 but didnt override as i cut the P3D2 version into a back up folder. Everything is visible the digits are working as intended. I even got the virtual cockpit back. P3D2 version has no VC.

 

Go ahead and cut the old messed up version out of the airplanes folder and paste the FS versin into P3D2.

 

BTW the cfg you should edit is the file without the extension visible.

You need to copy all the files inside the Panels folder including the Lear_45_XML.cab.  There is no VC in the Lear.

the FSX version has VC and it apears in P3D2 when you copy it over. The original P3D2 has not.

 

Hmmm.  My FSX Lear has one but my P3D V2 doesn't.

Its an AI aircraft in V2.

It's an AI aircraft because it doesn't have a Panels folder.  If you copy the Panels over from the FSX aircraft, miracles happen.

1)This is strange - I got the lear from FSX working moving it all across including the panel folder (got a virtual cockpit but no instruments) switched a couple of times between 2d (changed it so there was no transparency) then eventually got the instruments appearing in the virtual view.......again all a bit random

 

2)Also tried adding the affinity mask line to my .cfg file - and have now started getting an all black screen (when I should be seeing the runway) - unsure if the two are connected but I wasn't getting them at all until I started editing the .cfg file - have now  tried to remove the affinity line as well as setting HDR to zero (I read somewhere this might the source of the blackscreen) in .cfg file and managed to get the game running again - all seems a bit random still unsure what exactly is causing (although seems to start when I edit the .cfg) this and or to solve it - anyone got any ideas?

 

3)Are there any patches for prepar3d v2 yet?

 

4)Also noticed my REX4 is behaving strangely - noticed I have to go in and install the preferred textures set a couple of times sometimes before they show up in the game (I can tell mainly from the distinctly coloured horizon that's its working) - no idea why this might be although I regularly purge the scenary directory when I add on some new scenary so maybe it resetting the textures?

what version of P3D2 do you use?

it says version 2.0.9448 (simconnect version 2.00) - interestingly it seems to help with the black screen problem if I open in non full window mode (then select full screen with alt-return) and even more strange on the REX4 issue if I open once (no REX textures) then if I close and start again the textures load up.........(have also found the load up times for the game also vary widely)

The HDR bug is known.

The affinity mask is not required to run P3D2 as the app controls it by default but may affect less blurries. 

 

I highly recommend this help Prepar3DLearningCenter.chm this file is located in the p3d2 root. There is a tuning guide.

 

 

The Lear Jet in P3D2 version 2.0.9448.0 is equiped with just an 2D panel and is flyable in P3D2. The FSX Lear is working in P3D2 if you delete the P3D2 Lear Jet version. I tested it last night as you could see it in the screenshot.

 

The issues you have are all known by LM. They worked hard on a patch which is currently in beta and should be released soon. It will be released, as every P3D version, exclusively via LM website.

Regarding FTX Global if you install FTX Global into P3D2 it has a triple installer means it  can be installed into FSX P3D1.x AND P3D2!!! The installer is only available via the shop you bought it. I dont have UK 2000 LHR but in the scenery order it should be below FTX G. If you install any scenery other then ORBX you should run FTX Central afterwards to ensure the right scenery order.

 

Another advice is do one step at a time. Install add on test it if it works. If so close P3D2 and test again then proceed to the next install. If not delete it as it may not be compatible at this stage of development. For example that goes for EVERY ORBX products except FTX Global, Vector and AU SP 4 003. Other than that may work in P3D2 but are currently not supported by ORBX. Be carefull with the ETM as it can kill your sim.

 

Go register at ORBX forums for support.

 

REX4 Texture Direct is just a texture replacement for default cloud and enviroment textures. They will not interfere with scenery textures. There is a SP1 available for REX4. Im using REX4 too but havent had this issue maybe you should check there forums too.

Adding the affinity mask setting is more of a bug fix than a tweak. LM made the default AM to not use core 0 which hamstrings certain systems.
