February 6, 201412 yr Afternoon All, I know this topic has been discussed numerous times and so on, but I'd like to put some new views forward of what I'm looking for in my opinion. I've been using FSX for a long time and I'm currently using World of AI to handle my traffic at 40% on the FSX sliders (0% on General Aviation Slider). I've read numerous forums regarding the 'BEST' add-on for AI Traffic and I'm getting no where. So many add-ons and so many people with opinions on what's what and this and that. Now I want an add-on that's user friendly and has good textures. I've read the forums debating about the WOAI aircraft made for FS9 and it decreases the performance of FSX because they're not optimised like FSX models etc, so you should use a FSX based AI add-on. My specs of my computer can be found in my signature. I'd also like an add-on that's going to be up to date with flight plans and have the latest models such as the B747-8 and B787 flying around or on the ground. Of course again the performance is key but the textures would be nice to kept at a good level. I don't mind the cost, payware or freeware just want a good traffic add-on I can rely on to do the job. Another point that's good is to have a good support forum for any technical mishaps that may occur when using the add-on. A good support forum is good to have because it shows they're active and are always looking to improve the software they're selling. If possible I'd like for someone to give me key points on different add-ons of it's pros and cons and compare to other ones, and to conclude on what they use or would use. Thank you all kindly in advance, Kind Regards, AJLedbetter123 “Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return.” ― Leonardo da Vinci
February 6, 201412 yr You know what I would Stick, with WOAI if were you. I recently bought Traffic 360 on sale and it was terrible! Completely inferior to WOAI. I haven't tried any other and there is a lot of diverging opinions out there. This one is over for me I will be sticking with WOAI and Hopefully it will work in P3DV2. It's free, I my experience its not hard on performance at all! Its easy to use. It has regular free updates. What do you want? I think WOAI has to be in the top 4 or 5 freeware addons for FS of all time. The only disadvantage is getting into it because you have to download all of the packages individually. Days of concentrated effort to do that. But you know all that already. My vote is stick with WOAI
February 6, 201412 yr If you're in happy with WOAI, at least in general, I'd also suggest to stick with it, and search for AI models and flightplans for the planes you want to have additionally, if WOAI doesn't have them. I am not entirely sure, but I guess that you will find some nice AI models in the AVSIM library, or on similar sites. If you really want to go for a commercial package, here are a few thoughts on the two major competitors (Traffic360 isn't really worth mentioning, it's IMO the worst one): MTX (if you decide for thsi one, be sure to get the 5.4 version, not something like "2013" or "lite"!): FSX native models, which are often referred to as "ugly", but that lack of detail is only a way of saving FPS. Has some nice extra features, such as the "time machine", which allows to apply schedules of as far back as the 60s, and have the correct planes of that aera. Most likely the "most complete" addon, i.e. covering many - even very small - airlines, also in remote areas, having correct planes (but not the nicest models, though) Has some issues with incomplete installations, installation process is rather complicated Routes are direct between two airports, so you may still have the feeling of being alone when cruising above deserted areas Limited amount of special liveries, but it shouldn't be too hard to add planes from WOAI, if you really care for certain liveries UT2: If you buy the download via Flight1, you have a 30-day-money-back guarantee, which is actually equal to a 30 day demo period Assigns aircraft correct/realistic routes (using waypoints for the routes!) and aircraft registrations Nice visual models Straight-forward installation routine Limited airline coverage: many (particularly smaller) airlines are not depcited, but replaced by some fictional "Daedalus" airline, but since you're an WOAI user, you can easily replace those paints with the correct ones from WOAI Has some issues with aircraft disappearing over large bodies of water I hope the above is a more or less neutral summary of the major pros and cons of the main commercial AI programs. I'd also suggest (as I always do on such occasions) you to read other threads about this topic, to get a broader view, although you probably know most of that already: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/432574-i-want-my-ai/ http://forum.avsim.net/topic/398880-ultimate-traffic-2-my-traffic-x-trafficx-whats-your-favorite/ http://forum.avsim.net/topic/409236-best-ai-traffic-solution/ http://forum.avsim.net/topic/412793-which-ai-traffic-package/ Florian
February 7, 201412 yr Big fan of UT2, you can crank up the sliders with little impact and the models look good when you taxi by. We were just discussing it the other day. http://forum.avsim.net/topic/434143-surprised-by-ultimate-traffic-2/page-2#entry2921811
February 7, 201412 yr Author Thank you all kindly for the responses, they're very detailed and I can now broaden my search. So far I may be set on U2 and of course adding a few WOAI aircraft into it. Is the 'Adding' simple in U2? “Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return.” ― Leonardo da Vinci
February 7, 201412 yr Author Does U2 have the latest models such as the B787 or 747-8? “Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return.” ― Leonardo da Vinci

February 8, 201412 yr I don't know about the other programs, but I have MyTraffic 2013 and I am very happy with it. It has most airlines and aircraft, including military aircraft. It has some777s, but I did not notice whether the 747s are the latest model or not. The planes at any airport are the ones you are likely to see at that airport, for example you will see a lot of delta Airlines ircraft at Atlanta, and a lot of KLM aircraft at Schiphol in Amsterdam. February 8, 201412 yr It comes with FSX native models. I've run the models thru model checker to verify. Plus they advertise it as such. Jim, let me clarify, I don't believe UT2 comes with 787 and 748 models. I checked the Simobjects/UT2 folder today and these specific models are not present unless they are available as an additional download from Flight 1. OP was asking about these specific models. Of course UT2 comes with a whole host of other models. For more details, you can find the list by browsing the paint kits currently available:- http://ut2.flight1.net/index.php/downloads/aircraft-paint-kits.html Regards, SpoilerSystem specs: MFG Crosswind pedals| ACE B747 yoke |Honeycomb Bravo throttleNow built: P3Dv5.3HF2: Intel i5-12600K @4.8Ghz | MSI Z690-A PRO | Asus Dual RTX 4070 Super OC 12Gb| 32Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200Mhz |Samsung 980Evo Pro PCIe 500Gb | WD Black SN850 PCIe 2Tb | WD SA510 4Tb |beQuiet 802 Tower Case|Corsair RM850 PSU | Acer Predator X34P 3440x1440pMark AldridgeMSFS2024 SU5 & P3D v5.3 HF2
February 8, 201412 yr Mytraffic2013 user here - it is install and forget software. Very realistic livery wise. Models are not best but it adds enough immersion and on 30% it is more than 100% default. Pretty like it. Tomasz Zawadzki
February 8, 201412 yr Author I've done more research and I'm torn and have no idea, it's just one of those 'what do you want' kind of things. The more I read the more I become more lost, it's either one has this and the others don't then this doesn't but this does. I don't think I'm going to choose the UT2 because it doesn't even have the simplest airline 'Ryanair' May go with MTX Professional but as mentioned it's a little trickier installing, but I'm liking the looks of it. Does that have the 787 or 747-8 Maybe go for the MTX 2013? “Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return.” ― Leonardo da Vinci
February 8, 201412 yr Maybe go for the MTX 2013? MTX: if you decide for this one, be sure to get the 5.4 version, not something like "2013" or "lite"! That's not only my recommendation, quted from my above post, but actually the recommendation you'll find at simmarket.com. The one advantage (but that's actually the only one) of MTX 2013 is that you can read the manual before installation (if you buy the boxed version), which may help aviod the installaiton difficulties. However, if you read the advice given by the installer carefully instead of simply clicking "proceed" (and of course follow it B)), you should not run into problems with it anyway. I'm not completely sure about the 748 and 787, but both should actually be contained in MTX. Florian
