When the dust clears and you think you've got it installed as good as possible, tell us what you find compared to 2.0.   There are so many annoyances it is becoming clearer to me it's best to not install this thing from a user experience point of view.   One may enjoy helping move the product along by jumping in, but from what I read here it's not so clear if the user experience is really better or not.  The autogen behavior sounds ominous, stutters for some, etc.

Thanks in advance!

Noel

Have you tried it Noel?

Sorry, but for me it looks like that always the same people have the problems. My P3D v2.1 run smooth like silk and it's a pleasure to work with.

Why is it people feel they can come into the forum(s) in a heightened emotional state and try to stir up some "stuff", all in an effort to justify what they are feeling?

Planning on running over to the LM forum and saying "I did a scientific poll and 5 out of 9 people think the patch is poop!"?

People set themselves up for disappointment, not anyone else. LM never said Prepar3D was the end-all, be-all piece of software. Yet when things can't match the inflated expectations the whining and crying begins and in between the tears we get "polls" and "tests" that only seek to diminish what the software is and what it is capable of.

I better check to make sure I have sufficient Kleenex before I head over to the LM forum. I'm not lending a shirt sleeve to no one...

Only applied the update and I think its a very stable platform. It was this way already with 2.0 once I learned what had to be avoided (like minimizing the Sim). Still add-on runway/taxiway lights are not backwards compatible as I thought they would be, but when I added them with ADE to the AS LPPT afcad it worked. So I'm very happy and no OOM's yet. Set my graphics in a way that FSUIPC always reports more than 1G VAS available when I start and so I have enough available at the arrival.

I'm going to a clean install I hear that solves alot of issues that some are having. I'm also planning on waiting till ORBX releases PNW for P3dV2 before installing since I have the FSX version installed in my current 2.0 version with some issues.

No issues here. What problems?

I not going to commit just yet, but based on tonight's flights and settings changes I'm leaning towards a yes... 2.1 is better than 2.0.

Agree with you all, the patch is good. Its sooooo smooth, loving it. I guess the opinions can be skewed as people are more likely to post if they are having problems and not post if everything is fine (because they are too busy flying :))

Awhile back when P3d 2.0 had been out for just a few weeks, I posted that there were three different categories of experiences that people have had when using P3d2:

  1. The sim works fine "out of the box". Some of these people even have low to mid-range hardware, which  to me is surprising. Most of these users seem quite happy with P3d.
  2. The sim does not work properly, but people admit to, pushing all the sliders to the max, using  a large number of 3rd party add-ons, tweaking the CFG file, OCing the CPU, fiddling with nVidia Inspector, etc.. Many of these people are accepting in the fact that the results that they are getting may be of their own doing.
  3. The sim does not work properly, but there is no obvious reason why this is so, except to speculate that there is something about the specific hardware and software configuration that is contributing to the problem. Generally, these users experience errors that are seen by very few if any other people using the sim.

IMO, category 3 is the one that is hard to come to grips with. There are far too many people in this category with P3d 2.1. Some of these people have ultra high end hardware, so that can't be the explanation. Unfortunately, a number of the users in category 3 basically have given up and gone back to FSX or have tried XP10, which means that whatever bugs have caused their problem will likely never be solved. I also wonder how many of these users have filed a support ticket with LM.

I have to agree with everyone here.  This is not what the definition of Polling was made for and it only incites.  There really hasn't been enough testing.  Poll closed and locked.
