March 30, 201412 yr It's an unfortunately problem, but one thing you can do to lower the visual sore eye is to try and fly in realistic weather conditions. Yes, I know sometimes you can see pretty far out there, but most of the time visibility in real life is no more than 10 sm. If you set your weather to 10 sm visibility, or fly using some other type of weather engine, you wont see the problem or at least minimize it. I like flying in hazy conditions with lower visibility. Infinity view is not realistic any way, plus your megascenery tiles will look much more realistic to what you actually encounter in the real world. Johnny Rosario
March 30, 201412 yr That is a good idea specialist. Does anyone know if other states have this problem with the underlying state MSE 2.0 and the city ultra res scenery?
March 31, 201412 yr It is also reduced when you change the zoom factor to 40-50%. The default zoom factor for FSX is not realistic with photoscenery. Neil0311's photos in post #8 show the zoom factor has been increased, not decreased as recommended by the MSEV2 developers. Unfortunately there are always going to be anomalies in all photoscenery as MSE developers are no longer water-masking except in large bodies of water. Landing in water with photoscenery will not be a good idea anyway as most of the surrounding area will be flat but I agree with Neil0311, the lack of water-masking around Atlanta really shows up. I have the same issues with the Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia areas especially in the Potomac River. It's ugly but to water mask properly and fix other anomalies would cause the product to be too expensive for most of us so I have learned to live with it. I own almost every State and have bought a couple of hi-res cities but do not see that much of a difference and so I will stay with the States. April 2, 201412 yr Commercial Member Checking this out now - re-installing Atlanta Ultra-Res and MSE 2.0 Georgia... standby.... DeanManager - PC Aviator AustraliaRetailing Sim DVD Software, Downloads, Hardware and Accessories
April 2, 201412 yr Commercial Member Sorry it took so long to get back to get some screens posted. This is with MSE 2.0 Georgia AND Ultra Res Cities Atlanta both enabled in the scenery.cfg. The ultra res Atlanta is at a HIGHER priority to the MSE 2.0 Georgia. As you can see, there is some kind of haziness that appears over the rivers and lakes. If I disable one or the other (Atlanta or Georgia package), this effect goes away. It only shows up when BOTH are enabled. http://imageshack.com/a/img842/6751/w6i2.jpg http://imageshack.com/a/img27/7562/nfx0.jpg http://imageshack.com/a/img203/8601/a2ns.jpg http://imageshack.com/a/img547/82/pnzo.jpg PCAviator, can you please comment? Neil, Can now confirm this issue. It's showing on mine as well with Ultra Res Atlanta and MSE 2.0 Georgia both active. Basically a side effect of the same watermasking issues that plague photoreal products (and their designers!). The best solution is to disable the underlying MSE Georgia tiles for the coverage area that Atlanta Ultra-Res takes up. I'll see if I can find out which tiles these are from the developer. This type of anomaly as shown in your screenshots is NOT typical of most other Ultra-Res/MSE 2.0 state package combos, but similar watermasking issues will exhibit in others yes, for all those same watermaksing reasons discussed here and eslewhere. April 2, 201412 yr The best solution is to disable the underlying MSE Georgia tiles for the coverage area that Atlanta Ultra-Res takes up. This is a good idea and it would benefit us if separate lists were compiled for each of the affected UltraRes cities. I believe so far Orlando, Atlanta, Washington-Baltimore (Potomac river) , and Philadelphia (Delaware river) have been named. April 2, 201412 yr This may be a silly question, but would having UTX installed and its corresponding waterclass help with this issue? The reason I'm asking is that I'm considering purchasing some of the ultra-res cities to go on top of the mse states I already own. Thanks in advace
April 2, 201412 yr would having UTX installed and its corresponding waterclass help with this issue? Interesting question because I have been wondering the opposite. If something underlying, other than UltraRes cities and MSE2, could be causing the issues reported. I have Philly, Washington, Atlanta, and Orlando, but not gone looking for the reported issues yet. I do have Ultimate Terrain installed. April 2, 201412 yr Thanks PCAviator for checking into this. That would be awesome if you can find which tiles to remove under the ultra res to fix the problem. Keep us posted.
April 3, 201412 yr Commercial Member fppilot, I don't have UTX installed, and I am getting the same issues, so perhaps that answers your question. DeanManager - PC Aviator AustraliaRetailing Sim DVD Software, Downloads, Hardware and Accessories
April 3, 201412 yr Author This may be a silly question, but would having UTX installed and its corresponding waterclass help with this issue? Not a silly question at all. I do have UTX USA installed, but I have tried moving it above MSE, below MSE, and disabling it entirely, and I cannot detect any difference at all.
