Unwanted trees at certain airports

Featured Replies

I have noticed this problem at least at two airports: EHAM (default with Ray Smith's wonderful AFCAD) and Marcelo Veneziale, Posadas Guillermo and Pablo Contouris' SABE. Could it be as something as simple as a scenery database ordering issue or something more complex?

Hmmmm... looks like maybe the scenery is missing the CVX bgl file.  The CVX bgl  creates a custom terrain background and can eliminate autogen buildings, trees, etc.  At least that has been my experience in working with Airport Design Editor X (ADEX).

My computer: ABS Gladiator Gaming PC featuring an Intel 10700F CPU, EVGA CLC-240 AIO cooler (dead fans replaced with Noctua fans), Asus Tuf Gaming B460M Plus motherboard, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM, 1 TB NVMe SSD, EVGA RTX3070 FTW3 video card, dead EVGA 750 watt power supply replaced with Antec 900 watt PSU.

You could try changing your scenery library order (perhaps put EHAM at the top) and see if that makes any difference but, looking at your screenshots, I don't think that is the problem. I think it is more likely to be due to either duplicate or missing AFCADS or conflicts with other products (UT Europe, FTX Global?) or other scenery addons for this region. Occasionally it can even be an addon for something quite remote from the airport in question that causes the problem.

Nope, all have CVX files. EHAM is an AFCAD of all things. I might end up having to play around with the database and deactivate what might not work. Granted I have 800 (yikes!) plus entries.

I doubt this is a priority problem.

I suspect it is caused by your terrain.cfg, which is located in your root FSX folder.

Open it with Notepad and search for [Texture.164]

Post that section in a reply.

you might be onto something!

Is that from your terrain.cfg?

My mistake, no, not from my terrain.cfg

This is though

// Airport Backgrounds (FSX) - Flatten + MaskClassMap + ExcludeAutoGen

[Texture.164]

Name=Airport_Backgrounds_Flatten_MaskClassMap_ExcludeAutoGen

Color=FFFFFF00

guid={46BFB3BD-CE68-418E-8112-FEBA17428ACE}

FlattenMode=flat

FlattenPriority=51000

LandClassRemapType=none

ExcludeAutogen=Yes

RenderToTexture=No

RenderPriority=20000

Water=No

Textures=GRASS_SKIRTING_1

That looks OK.

Do you have any addons that would affect EHAM?

UT EU? FTX?

Your EHAM pics are outside the influence of Ray's CVX file.

Can you verify ...\Scenery\0601\cvx4913.bgl

August 27, 2006 and 12.7MB.

Do you have any similar problems elsewhere?

Go to EHHV and see if the same problem with the trees exists.

Joe

I have the same problem with SABE. I'm triying to contact the authors to know what could be the problem and possible solutions.

Different problem: the altitude is incorrect: the plane is halfway in the ground.

I have the same problem with Ray Smith's EHAM (freeware @ avsim) and I fixed it by disabling OpenVFR Terrain for the Netherlands. Some OpenVFR sceneries are free and are quite nice. Works fine in Germany and Austria, but in the Netherlands I have trees in Schiphol, just like you.

OpenVFR: http://openvfr.freyt.de/magento/index.php/downloads/openvfr-terrain/openvfr-terrain-europe-793.html

Maybe you don't have OpenVFR, but you have a similar landclass/vector scenery, like UTX...

Now I have come to find out that all of the Netherlands is messed up. Might I include a copy of my scenery.cfg?

UPDATE: It's an addon EBOS (Oostende) airport that's causing the Netherlands to be effed up. Now to see what's going on in the Southern Hemisphere.

In looking at the OP screenshot of SABE I am seeing objects in the background that I do not have in my sim.

As I don't have any autogen trees in the middle of the airport I am wondering if we have the same addon.

Where did you get yours?

Joe
