March 26, 201412 yr I am wondering what might cause the plane to pull to the left after landing when taxing in? I correct back to the right and center the rudder pedals and then she pulls to the left again...??? Thanks... Ralph Freshour www.GMTPilots.com
March 26, 201412 yr Did you turn off AP before exiting runway ? Eg hitting the "Z" key. March 26, 201412 yr Commercial Member I am wondering what might cause the plane to pull to the left after landing when taxing in? You have this very large thing on the back of your airplane that looks very, very similar to something else an engineless boat uses to move itself... (Hint: your tail is a giant sail in the wind, and it will influence your aircraft's track on the ground, particularly because FSX's ground contact model sucks) Kyle Rodgers
March 26, 201412 yr Commercial Member I had this problem. Solved it by deleting duplicated assigned controls for rudder. Had assigned axis in FSUIPC and on one of the controllers in FSX control settings. It can be confusing at times, and sometimes FSX didn't even displayed assigned axis in the controls menu, probably a bug or something. March 28, 201412 yr Author I checked the rudder controls...only my stick yaw twist is working it...checked the axis config panel...nothing unusual there either...I can start out on the ramp at Los Angeles and it taxi's fine...straight as an arrow, turns ok, then straight again...but when I land...ah ha...something happens when I land...its like the left brake is on because it constantly wants to pull to the left when I taxi in...I have the default . key to set/release parking brakes and the B key to apply the brakes to slow down when I do taxi...I don't know what else could be causing this behavior...I have no wind and no weather dialed into the flight as Kyle suggested their might be some surface wind...I'm puzzled by this one... March 28, 201412 yr Author Update: It has to be the wind on the airport. After landing I taxied around N S E W and the wind coming from the west pushed the nose accordingly...taxing N or S pushed the nose...taxing W straight as an arrow...where is the setting for the airport wind? I'd like to dial it down a bit...thanks... Ralph Freshour www.GMTPilots.com
March 28, 201412 yr isn't this called the weathervane effect where the nose pulls towards the wind because it blows the tail the opposite direction?
March 28, 201412 yr Author isn't this called the weathervane effect where the nose pulls towards the wind because it blows the tail the opposite direction? Yes it is...but the effect I'm experiencing it pretty severely in pulling the nose around...I can do without it and don't need to simulate the wind that much... Ralph Freshour www.GMTPilots.com
March 29, 201412 yr where is the setting for the airport wind? I'd like to dial it down a bit...thanks... That would depend on which weather add-on you're using. For example, ASN has a slider for Maximum Surface Wind, which you could dial down as needed. Michael Faia
April 1, 201412 yr Author I'm not using any weather add-on. Where is the FSX default wind settings? I think I need to dial it down some. Thanks... Ralph Freshour www.GMTPilots.com
April 1, 201412 yr Hi. Do you have any problems on the T/O roll with the aircraft pulling to the left? I had excactly the same problem on both T/O and landing. I tried everything to correct it, nothing worked. In the end I purchased a new joystick ( SpeedLink BlackWidow) now all is working perfectly. Possibly your joystick is simply worn out and sending false inputs. Maybe worth a try if you can borrow a joystick from someone just to test if it's FSX or the joystick itself. April 1, 201412 yr Author No, its the wind coming from the west. I posted that when I taxied around the airport, going west/east there was no problems...going N/S the tail was being pushed accordingly with a wind coming out of the west. So, its a wind issue for me at KLAS (Las Vegas). Ralph Freshour www.GMTPilots.com
April 1, 201412 yr Glad you got it sorted. To be honest I never realised FSX was that accurate with wind on the ground and even with using an external weather addon such as ASN. Tony Simpson FLYING FROM EGKK, The worlds busiest single runway Airport.
April 1, 201412 yr Author I don't have it solved yet...I'm still asking how do I control the wind on a given airport? Ralph Freshour www.GMTPilots.com
