PMDG's Beech 1900D. Outstanding.

Featured Replies

I just wanted to give some overdue praise to PMDG's Beech 1900D. I think it is an outstanding addon at a great value. I would love to see more products in the PMDG express line. The visual modeling is spectacular, the installation was a no brainer, and they even have numerous free liveries for the plane. Overall a very nice plane at a very nice price.

I will ordering a brand new computer in the next several weeks and one of the first planes downloaded will be the Beech 1900D. The review in Computer Pilot magazine was glowing and I think past forum threads have been very positive.

FYI, I have a pretty low end system (P3, 1 Ghz, Radeon 700 PCI card) and the Beech 1900 works fine. It comes with or without virtual cockpit/cabin so is accessible to all systems. It's one of my most-flown planes.BlairCYOW

Wonderful model and the flight modeling is excellent. It is not very complex but this doesn't detract from the fun of flying it. Noel

It's a very basic add on, no FMC, no real 2d cockpit, just the standard pilots view. In my opinion, I really wish it would have been a fully made plane, like their 737NG.Jeff

Yeah but the Express line is not meant as a hardcore simulation and PMDG never says it

Those were exactly my thoughts when ordering and first flying this great little airliner. The flight modeling just feels like what I would expect a real one to feel like. It is super!RH

Yeah PMDG is really nice in that department. The 737NG is just as nice to handfly. I really suggest you don

I have the PMDG B1900 and love it. I would also like to see some more aircraft offered in the Express line.KP

It certainly is a great aircraft, and livery support from the freeware community is still strong even after what...a year? -John

I can't read the text under the light switches so I had to ask about the function of the switches. The panel contains several default gauges. The documentation is very sparse and incomplete. I agree with the review on Nordic Net that gave it only two stars (out of 5).Or let me put it this way. What does it offer that

Will,You are right, it is a great aircraft for the money. But I don't think that praise is "overdue".Check the PMDG forum. I and lots of others have commended them for the 1900D. Like you, I hope that they expand this series. It is a great compromise between the complex and the simple -- just about right if you only have an hour or so to fly. Also, Realty XP has all of the files that you need to incorporate their guages, including weather radar, into both panels.Wilson

What I meant was the praise was overdue for me.I normally don't buy "aircraft". The only other aircraft I have purchased was an old "Abacus" disk of aircraft for FS2002. (Which many of were developed for FS2000). It had nice variety, but....So, I decided to look around. I was interested in both the ATR 72 and the PMDG Beech. Both are short haul aircraft and fit in nicely with my 1 to 1.5 hour flight time that I am interested in.Well, my scrooge half got in the way, so I went with the PMDG because it was 20 dollars cheaper than the ATR.I'm very happy. A great VC and a nice 2D panel with photorealstic views. The aircraft seems to handle very nicely (unlike the overly pitch sensitive King Air) and I can do small hops in it. I am what you call a hardcore, casual flight simmer. I play flight sim nearly every day, which makes me hardcore, but casual in that I am more interested in the overall "feel" or "experience" than the actual realism. Frankly some of the planes scare me since they seem to simulate all the systems of some of the planes, but only leave you the pilot to manage them all. So the fact that the Beech can be easily managed and flown is actually a plus for me instead of a minus. I would love to see some of the existing PMDG products have an express version as well. Different strokes for different folks.

I still don't have that one. From everything I have head, it is one of the best out there. If the 1900D is any indication, the 737NG should be awsome. Robb
