February 4, 200521 yr The Justflight Spitfire is by Aeroplane Heaven, I feel a bit sorry for themhaving to follow the Realair Spit.
February 4, 200521 yr I have the Realair Spitfire, I cant think that anyone could do better than this.Every Realair release has been first class, I have an earlier Spitfire and hurricane by Aeroplane heaven who have put together the Justflight Spitfire and they are not even close to the quality of the Realair one.The realair Spitfire is the benchmark.
February 4, 200521 yr Run, don't walk, to get your RealAir Spitfire.Since my purchase a few weeks ago, I have flown nothing else. I have the TrackIR2 ( alas, not the IR3 ), and have been having so much fun flying that the constant tweaking that usually occupies much of my "flying" time has been minimal. Of course, I have been a Spitfire fan since before seeing the "Battle of Britain" movie when it was originally released. So, all that being said, I may get Just Flight's also. And, with not one but two Battle of Britain sims in the works, fans of this aircraft will have enough to do for a long time. All the best "... speed ... is the only reason for flying." - Clyde V. February 4, 200521 yr Yep - the Real Air Spitfire is the serious one to consider. It sets a yardstick for features that will take a lot of catching up. Take it for granted the visual model and textures are first class. The panel is VC only but having said that it is the most natural and instinctive panel I have come across in any aircraft. I don't know what RA did to achive this but it just feels perfectly right.Same goes for the flight performance. RA have always produced aircraft that fly one step closer to reality and the Spitfire is no exception. Tricky on take off but after that it is a dream to fly.On top of all that the icing on the cake is some contemporary WW2 scenery to fly in and AI Spitfires to keep you company. This aircraft is in a class of its own..boneshttp://fsaviation.nethttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/ng_driver.jpg
February 4, 200521 yr I know which one I would reccomend but then I'm biased for a good reason!Go on...You know it makes sense!CheersTimhttp://members.chello.nl/t.westnutt/realair1.gif
February 4, 200521 yr The only problem with the RA Spit is that it's a XIV. (I still don't understand that choice?) The AH package includes I's, II's, V's, IX's, etc.
February 4, 200521 yr I've only got one complaint about the RealAir Spit, it stops me flying anything else. One other slight regret, although the Spit was a fantastic plane by this late stage, I wish there was a way of RealAir also producing the emotive sound of the earlier Merlin engine.John
February 4, 200521 yr Author "The only problem with the RA Spit is that it's a XIV. (I still don't understand that choice?)"Simple: The Mark XIV represents the pinnacle of Spitfire performance and power. But our package comes with enough variants (contra prop, clipped and elliptical wings plus varied squadron liveries and fictional racer)to keep most stimulated.Kind Regards,Rob Young www.realairsimulations.com Robert Young - retired full time developer - see my Nexus Mod Page and my GitHub Mod page
February 5, 200521 yr It has to be real air, if you want a truly fantastic experience.Personally, I dont buy JustFlight products as they always seem to be more hype than quality. I wont mention which but up to now, they've been pretty crappy with most ending up in the bargain bucket at the stores within months....Once bitten twice shy.Ash

One other slight regret, although the>Spit was a fantastic plane by this late stage, I wish there>was a way of RealAir also producing the emotive sound of the>earlier Merlin engine.I tend to agree, although the Mk XIV was an incredibly powerful machine, my favourite marque has always been the Merlin powered Mk IX, brought out specifically to counter the threat of the FW-190. It was also the last version that my father flew after spending 2 years on the MK V in Malta.CheersTimhttp://members.chello.nl/t.westnutt/realair1.gif
