Why Worse Blurries Than Fsx?

Hi Howard,

This may be helpful:

http://superuser.com/questions/479576/windows-7-easiest-way-to-tell-whether-aero-dwm-is-enabled

Also, can I suggest you try reinstalling/updating your graphics driver via GeForce Experience. Choose a clean install. This should reset everything back to default.

Be sure to reboot after completion of the installation and check all is well with DxDiag.exe

Then delete Prepar3D.CFG and allow the sim to rebuild the file.

Reconfigure your preferred settings in the running sim and try re-enabling VSync and set the frame rate limiter to unlimited as before.

Forget about NVidia Inspector for the time being.

Fingers crossed!

Regards,

Mike

Thanks very much for the info Mike. I'm going to be away from my rig for a week :(  but when I return I'll follow your lead and try to get things working again   Cheers

I can't for the life of me get Vsync to work. I have tried forcing it through NI, I've tried inside P3D,

It's all done inside P3D settings.  Just enable.  Make sure your NI or Nvidia display driver settings are set to the default (everything turned off) as the application does all of the work now (or that's the way I understand it).  All my problems were resolved by returning the NI settings for P3D to default (or the settings as established by Nvidia techs - probably in consultation with LM).

So you're saying that it really ISN'T at 16x until I set it back to 4X, accept and then back to 16X? And this needs to be done for each session?

Yes

Would this be the same if the entry was just set in the CFG file manually?

Yes ... you will need to do above every session if you want 16X.  It's being saved to the .cfg correctly as 16X, it's being read correctly as 16X (from .cfg) but is NOT being sent to DX11 correctly on session initialization.

Cheers, Rob.

Agree 100% with Jim, I don't use NI either, only if I'm testing out something specific.

The only time you'll want NI is if you SGSS AA but that has a significant performance hit even on a Titan.

Thanks Rob.  It all makes sense too as the latest version was programmed to take advantage of GPU's.  It's not going to work very well if we start changing settings in the display driver.  To me, this concept is absolutely the work of geniuses.  My framerates with photoscenery and FSDT type airports has never been better or clearer and it's only going to get much, much better in the future.  I'm glad you are on the bandwagon and monitoring the development of this product.  It makes me feel even better!!

That's why I want Rob to open another thread.  I like the bantering that happened in the other one, but it has gotten too long.

I can understand much of the disappointment in seeing one's GPU that was working well for FSX but not for P3D ... but 2 years from now when Titan level processing power is cheaper and folks are swapping out their GPUs they'll understand the benefits of being GPU bound -- it's good for both low budgets and high budgets.

+1000, couldn't agree more.

I'm definitely in experimental mode with P3D; FSX will continue to be my add-on mainstay. P3D provides a hint of what will be possible as things evolve.

I've come to the conclusion after having read the entire Internet at this point on both sims that the best settings are...... leave them alone for awhile and fly in the same place with the same aircraft for a bit and see what happens.

I think the code is basically alive, and gets irritated if you give it constantly changing ideas of what you want it to do, and just heads off on a coffee break in protest.

It's kind of like the way I've always dealt best with programmers on my development teams: leave them alone, give them a periodic pat on the head, read a good novel to stop yourself from micromanaging them, then express insane delight when something shows up that actually works for awhile. And take a deep breath when for some mysterious reason it breaks again. May I recommend Jane Austen?

This is the true secret to digital happiness.
