April 26, 201412 yr Just bought Ultimate Traffic2, and I'm experimenting with the proper settings. The goal is to get as much air traffic as realistically possible yet NOT impede performance. Question: Should aircraft traffic within FSX settings be shut off or reduced when using UT2? Please tell me what settings some of you UT2 veterans use....because I'm in a learning mode for this addon right now. Stan

Stan I set traffic in UT2 to 100% with no GA (can't stand waiting inline at EGLL with a single prop wing-over in front) and see no appreciable performance hit. Ric Elmore
April 26, 201412 yr Ric, Do you turn it completely OFF in FSX Traffic settings? Stan I don't recall at the moment, I do, however recall seeing the traffic set to 100% in FSX. I don't know if that is left over or if UT2 makes that adjustment. At work right now, will check when I get home. Ric Elmore
April 26, 201412 yr Moderator Stan, the setting in FSX doens't effect UT2 at all. The AI setting in FSX will only effect AI that are .bgl based like WOAI, MTX or any AI that come with ORBX sceneries and things of that nature. As an example, in my FSX all the stock traffic has been disabled when UT2 was installed making the FSX AI slider ineffective. However, I installed a lot of WOAI cargo packages that rely on the FSX AI slider, so for that reason I keep my FSX AI slider at 100% so that all the WOAI cargo aircraft show up at the airports. So in short, if you're not using any other AI packages in FSX aside from UT2 then the FSX slider wont make any difference where its set to. You can leave it at 100% or 0% and it wont effect UT2. The only slider that effects UT2 is the slider in the UT2 UI where you set the level for airlines and g/a. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
April 26, 201412 yr Author Interesting. Thanks for that information. I know that the FSX Traffic sliders do normally affect performance under normal circumstances. Stan

Not to mentioned you have real flights and not the AI bobble around your aircraft... The advantage is that all performance tweaks are done from one place with far better tweak options as the bgl files in FSX ;-) @Stan have a look at the UT2 GUI (software) and start-up and look at the left at Utilities > game settings and you can tweak UT2 for best performance based on your system (here is where it shines and far more advanced is as any traffic package available for FS) Hence you can created more or less traffic even when you are flying :-) Make sure to disable in traffic options moveable jetways frame rate killer in FS Over time you can even add paints, aircraft, and flight plans to your UT2 installation via powerpack :-) Set the FSX traffic sliders to zero :-) For example set traffic at 100% and in UT2 utilities > in game settings and start from here great for performance :-) André
April 26, 201412 yr I use only UT2 for AI traffic. I have the FSX traffic sliders at 0, UT2 commercial traffic at 100%, UT2 GA traffic at 40%. Flying around south Florida with much more than 40% GA traffic results in ATC constantly chattering with AI and I can't get a word in edgewise. Experiment with the settings to see what works best for you. April 26, 201412 yr Just as a side ... I've been away for about 4 years. Can anyone refresh my memory on which program has the most realistic models? I know that can be a bit of a performance hit. Thanks.
April 26, 201412 yr Author Great input. Thank you very much. As a novice to UT2, I've got some great tips here. Stan
April 26, 201412 yr The AI setting in FSX will only effect AI that are .bgl based like WOAI Thanks for that, going to reinstall my WOAI traffic Ric Elmore
