May 1, 201412 yr Another absurd idea - The Northern lights. Please don't kill me Ed for suggesting it. just an idea! X-Plane 10 has that. Not so absurd.
May 1, 201412 yr Thought that already existed in FS9?? Does it?... I never went that far north to notice anyways... with P3D, we have those nice Orbx sceneries, SAK and Iceland... not to mention Norway!..... a kodak moment will be the northern lights reflecting in the Fjords! B) :friends:
May 1, 201412 yr Why relevance does an FS9 feature have in a P3Dv2 discussion anyway ? The shark has been thoroughly jumped. Regards,Brian Doney
May 1, 201412 yr Ideas are great. But "absurd" ideas must be tempered with realistic expectations about what can be incorporated into a point release of an already-developed software product. Perhaps we should distinguish between what would be great to see in P3D 3.0 and beyond sometime in the more distant future vs. what we would like to see more immediately in 2.x. I wanted to quote this earlier, but had to take care of something else, so let me do that now. I actually agree with you for the most part, that many/all of the features/ideas that we might discuss, may not be realistic for a 2.X release. With all due respect though, so what ? Its just a spit-balling thread, nothing more or less. Re-reading from the OP onward, all I see are posts from people that describe what they'd like to see someday. No need to read into it any more than that. CB's list on page one is very reasonable, and just about hits all the points that I'd post as well. It's nice to get a sense of where this community would like to see things go. No expectations are being set as far as I can see. Just a discussion. Not sure I understand why this is so contentious. No need to read into it any more than that. I agree that there's nothing wrong with saying what we'd like to see someday. I have plenty that I'd like to see someday, too. As a meteorologist by education (undergrad, anyway), I'd like to see fantastic and realistic detailed weather effects. By no means should anyone be prevented from expressing their wishes, especially in an unofficial forum such as this. But I also see no harm in pointing out to someone that what they would like to see is not likely to happen any time soon for technical (or other) reasons. Perhaps I do not understand why universal updateable navdata isn't something that can be incorporated into 2.X within the current structure of the sim (I do, but let's say I don't). I appreciate it when someone knoweldgeable comes along and explains how something like that works in the current sim framework and why it's not a quick fix. As far as the OP's original point about LM's feature request forum, I also see no harm in pointing out what type of features LM will likely realistically consider now (as much as we can read their mind). But by all means, let's continue to dream! My nerdy side likes the technical limitations discussion too, though. May 1, 201412 yr But I also see no harm in pointing out to someone that what they would like to see is not likely to happen any time soon for technical (or other) reasons. I agree with this in principle, except in some cases, as with a few individuals here (not you), where that's all they ever do is whine about how hard/impossible everything is. It's one thing to have a discussion about those limitations, another entirely to constantly steer discussion away with endless thread crapping, attitude, and appeals to authority that simply aren't relevant here. That has gotten old fast. Regards,Brian Doney
May 1, 201412 yr Better lake, pond, river water. It's a small thing but it's a big thing visually. When I see rivers and lakes where the water looks like it belongs in the ocean...well, it's weird.
