May 15, 201412 yr VATSIM has long since become a common network for the flight novice and professional alike. As we wave goodbye to outdated software in our flight community VATSIM has been bombarded with demands for a new pilot client that was easier to use and free of problems. The loud voice of the VATSIM community was heard, and thus vPilot was released under the direction of the same individual that makes one of the most used radar clients for controllers on VATSIM, VRC. In the few flights I've made with this new software I find myself with mixed feelings. A lot of advancement has been made on the AI aircraft front and even more on the simplicity front!. A few things need to be adjusted to improve the functionality in my opinion. However, I want to get the thoughts of the community on the program that we have replaced both Squawkbox and FSINN with. Do you like our new system? Thanks and Regards!
May 15, 201412 yr Honestly, I find FsInn better handles traffic movement interpolation and modelmatch. Lj. Prodanovic

May 15, 201412 yr Not a fan of the interface. I want full screen integration. Small, light and transparent. Jim Shield Cybersecurity Specialist

May 15, 201412 yr A full screen interface? Hmmmm, I'm not sure I follow you on that.... Something that can work when you run FSX in full screen and only have one monitor. Right now, you'd have to alt-tab to get to vPilot. Regards, Kevin LaMal "Facts Don't Care About Your Feelings" - Shapiro2024
May 15, 201412 yr
I agree on the full screen support. That is the only thing keeping me from using vPilot.
Jared Listinsky
May 16, 201412 yr I like it, it's really simple tho. I don't see it replacing FSInn or SB, I see it as an alternative. I can see why people would rather use FSInn, as FSInn has far more features. As for fullscreen support, I don't really care, as 1. I have multiple monitors and 2. I'm not running in fullscreen anyways, I'm using the pseudo fullscreen autohotkey script vatsim s3
May 16, 201412 yr Isn't the full screen support a limitation of Windows itself? Anyway, I love it. It's stable, has just the features I need, the AI models match and look great, etc. etc. It's one of those programs that for the first couple of days I'd find something and go wow!

You may be correct, but they could add a plugin module that allows for some features to be used within FSX. Actually I think he did this by adding FSX menu items for change squawk mode; but I would like to be able to see the ATC list and the chat window without having to leave the FSX full screen window. A full screen interface? Hmmmm, I'm not sure I follow you on that.... Sorry, my choice of words wasn't ideal. I like to run FSX in full screen, but when I do, vPilot can't be seen. May 16, 201412 yr Very happy to have vPilot, but not using it due to aircraft models/sprites warping. The author has said this will be addressed in future releases, so I'm glad to hear that it will be supported going forward. Much easier to use than the others, except perhaps I am not sure that the procedure to integrate model sets is explained so that I can understand it. Could I please suggest that this aspect is reviewed and perhaps a 'Model sets for Dummies' be published? Finally, ability to support shared cockpit would be welcome, as we use this feature for training new pilots. Best wishes to your team. Phil
