Future Title Request: 767 for FSX

Polls are kind of "meh" to me. The ultimate decision on which projects are pursued by PMDG is decided by PMDG, not a poll of forum members.  If the poll revealed that the majority wanted plane X, but in the next development cycle PMDG announced they were going to start on plane Y, you'd get a whole lot more moaning about how PMDG NEVER listens to what their customers want. Establishing a poll carries with it the strong (though inaccurate) impression that what comes out on top in the poll will be the next airframe added to the bottom of PMDG's list of projects.  To the best of my knowledge, PMDG has NEVER operated that way.

The thing you're referring to is actually the Masonic Temple (George Washington Masonic Temple, oddly enough)

(Back to the OP) I wish I could have some altruistic reason for putting in a word or two for a PMDG 767, but the truth is it was for purely selfish reasons. As I mentioned the other payware didn't play nice, and the freeware supplied by Delta VA wasn't any better.  I'm now at the stage where I need to progress in the Delta VA organization up to the 762, and there isn't an aircraft I can use without lobotomizing my computer.

Of course I have noticed your posts of frustration on DVA's H2O Cooler and it sure is shame that you can't get a 767 to work for you.

Personally if PMDG made a 767-300ER and 767-400, I'd be happy and would certainly conciser buying it, but I'd much rather see the 787 series first.

As would probably most of the people here.  I don't blame them one bit.  Sadly, the Dreamliner will also be a stage 5 aircraft for DVA once they're actually delivered (unless they repackage the 747 and 787 as a new "Stage 6"), so I'm still left without a route to get to stage 4 :t0117: . I don't see the need to jump over to the A330, the DC-8, or the L-1011 if I'll be hopping back into the T7 for stage 5. Big, Beautiful Boeings All The Way, Baby! :p0503:

I just need to work on my 757 flying so I can pass that check ride, but I only really want to get that as a segway to the Aerosoft A330 when that comes out.

If ever!

Honestly, they approximated the A319 would be done by Q2 2014. They just started modelling the aircraft. It's gonna be a fair bit of time before it ever releases.

Any new plane PMDG wants to release has to get behind: 777 SP2 + 773 version, 737 SP2, DC-6, 747x v2, 748. While we can expect the 737 and 777 SP's pretty soon (that being a relative term; to quote PMDG: "it's done when it's done"), developing new planes takes quite a bit of time when you're doing it as detailed as PMDG does. So whatever plane comes after the ones PMDG did confirm they are working on, be it the 787 or 757/767, will probably be released somewhere around 2018 at the latest, unfortunately.

In the meantime, I'll enjoy my 737. I advise you guys to do the same :D

The 787 is much more similar in terms of the systems to what we've done (777, NGX) than the 75/76 are...

I reckon a PMDG 787 would prove to be a best-seller! Nothing scientific, just a hunch.

Its funny that a major factor in not making a 757/767 is that they claim these planes are being retired from service and will be gone soon when if anything the 747-400 is the plane that's being let go of rapidly. The 757/767 will be around a lot longer than the 747-400 I reckon .  Most airlines are dumping the -400, with JAL and ANA having dumped theirs, Air France's will be gone in 2016, United and Delta likely by 2019, Qantas this year (save the ER till '18), Cathay Pacific this year, Asiana this year, and Air New Zealand this year.  If the schedule for the 747v2 is the same as the NGX and 777 (Aug 2011, Aug 2013) and we see it in August 2015, very few airlines will still have them in service, and the -8 will be limited to 4 carriers: Lufthansa, Korean, Arik, and Transaero.

Missing factor in argument:

The 744 is RSR's favorite plane.

Makes him an upstanding kinda guy in my book. On a recent pointless visit to EHAM, I spent the afternoon watching KLM's 744s toing and froing across the taxi ways. Great day, by my reckoning. I hope RSR is recovering well.

My favorite is the DC9 Series 10. What about that one?

All kidding aside, the 747 is an iconic plane and will sell well for PMDG no matter what it's status is in the RW. They will probably be releasing 744 V20 fifty years from now.

For the record I wasn't complaining; the 747 is my favorite too, and it pains me flying the -400X after having the NGX and 777X and seeing how old and un-state-of-the-art it is.  I'm looking forward to flying it all over no doubt, but I was making an argument in favor of the 757/767...

Hey if you want to get a new 747 before PMDG, there's a certain developer that's planning to release one in August ^_^ (and it will also be very good news for 2D panel lovers  )
