February 21, 200521 yr I was just curious how many payware titles do you guys buy a month? Me I usually buy between 2 and 4 payware titles a month. My February purchases have been Fly Tampa's Dubai scenery, UK2000's Isle of Man scenery, and Jet City's MD-80/81/82/83/87/90.
February 21, 200521 yr not one,i have my freeware HJG DC8,and my freeware SGA DC9,and Vistaliners 727,and the freeware Aerocommanders, and Dash 7.all with great freeware panels, and that's enough for me :)i'm having a ball :)tataJP.
February 21, 200521 yr Oh lets see, I'll count them up.. Ok, .2, maybe .3 (on a good month) With the price of addons thee days I'm finding my payware purchases are very selective anymore. $20-$30 for an airport, heh, doubt it. Haven't even been able to talk myself into getting a megascenery title either. Jay EklundFirst Officer KDENhttp://online.vatsimindicators.net/812321/764.png Jay EKlund UVA/GCVA Pile-it
February 21, 200521 yr Last year probably 10 a month(wasted waaaaaay too much money :-doh ). I've since slowed down to 1 or 2
February 21, 200521 yr Hello,I just reinstalled FS2004 after taking some time a year off from the sim scene. I just got the ERJ and the Flight 1 Citation and already had the Southern Calif. Megascenery. I just got The Northern Calif. and SF Megacity, and the PNW they just came out with. That's going to do it for me for a while. I only fly in those areas anyway. More like how many payware scenery titles a year for me. I stay away from the airport ones too as they are frame rate drainers and I don't like to spend too much time on the ground.Sincerely,Hans

February 22, 200521 yr Hi Joseph,I think my case is similar to yours. 2-3 add-on's per month. Anyway, I only buy aircraft add-on's because I bought Simflyer's World Airports in the past and I found it is practically unusable because of the heavy frame rate hit. Smoothness of the flightsim is very important for me and such products aren't for me then. This month I bought PMDG 737 600/700 + 800/900 - the CD versions from Aerosoft, RFP 747-200 2nd Generation and PSS Concorde LE from Just Flight. All of them are superb products, though I had to give back the Concorde and get a new copy because the installation CD was damaged. Well, it was my first negative experience with any add-on though.Anyway, I can't hide my add-on bills from my girlfriend forever, so I have to reduce it to 1 add-on in a month in the future :-lol It seems that developers of add-on's are very active in these days and I sometimes wish Bill Gates to be my nice uncle. I would get every add-on on the market ;-) Since I buy add-on's I can hardly fly any default aircraft or freeware aircraft. The only exception is A300 from HNAC and SGA with the perfect freeware panels from Simon Topmann and Benoit Gaurant.Bye
February 22, 200521 yr About 1-2/month on average, sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less...like this month: Weather Maker, Lyon's Challenger II, FFS Vans RV7 and pre-ordered Megascenery PNW (should have in 8-10 days)...so that was a lot :-lol but I'll probably slow down now and enjoy the new Megascenery when it arrives. -
February 22, 200521 yr Two or three a year, usually scenery.Ed GreenKCLThttp://www.panelshop.com/DEV.jpg
February 22, 200521 yr And I'm just curious why this topic keeps coming up. What difference does it make how much payware one buys? Some adults can obviously afford more than the 15-year-old who is just as devoted to the hobby. Does that make one of them better than the other? I think not. Again, what does it possibly matter how much you spend or don't spend?
February 22, 200521 yr Same here, 2-3 per year, not per month. Four titles if it's a great year for payware.Scenery, yeah I can see how people can gobble those up and not spend much time with them. However, the complex aircraft that have come out in the past 2 years, with integrated systems and all. How can you guys buy more than 2 in a year if you are really learning all the aspects of the aircraft? All I've been flying the past year is the PMDG 737 series and I'm still learning new stuff. There's no way I'd buy RFP and PMDG in the same month. One of them would end up sitting on the shelf for a couple of months (or longer) while I learn everything about the other one.Bruce
February 22, 200521 yr wow .. 10/month ... i did not realize that that many titiles are released per ... at your clip, you bought 120 payware titlesI normally buy about 5 per year..Vernon
February 22, 200521 yr Vernon-- Didn't say there was any harm involved, I was just curious about the reason. Is it so you can tell your wife that everybody else spends just as much? Or is it guilt for spending on a hobby you love? I use both excuses, by the way.
