June 5, 201412 yr This is because FSX has the LOC/GS performance hard coded into the sim. This isn't the case in the real world. Localizers have different effective ranges. IAD's as an example have an effective range of about 25nm (at least, that's about as far as the extents run on the controllers' displays, which means they can use them out that far). CHO on the other hand, has a much lower power array, based on the extents shown on their scopes. That's actually not entirely true! The range of the ILS can be altered in the AFCAD. At least with ADE! Tom Cain Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d
June 9, 201411 yr Hi Ralph! Great stuff here, and I really appreachiate your work. Thank you very much. I hope people understand how many hours of work this is - and for us other just to watch and learn. Great! I find it interesting and full of practical hints and tips to how master NGXNG. In addition to manuals from PMDG and other sources of course... I like to do things step by step. However, I miss part 1, who has been removed. Any reason? Where can I find it? June 9, 201411 yr Commercial Member That's actually not entirely true! The range of the ILS can be altered in the AFCAD. At least with ADE! Cool - thanks Tom! I'll have to look into it. I guess it would have been more appropriately said: "FSX didn't get all of the LOC ranges coded in properly in default scenery." Kyle Rodgers
June 9, 201411 yr Cool - thanks Tom! I'll have to look into it. I guess it would have been more appropriately said: "FSX didn't get all of the LOC ranges coded in properly in default scenery." You can even alter the angle of the Glide Path. Very useful for airports like London City!! Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d
June 9, 201411 yr Author @Baba I ended up splitting the Part 1 'Ground School' video into two parts. There is now Part 1a and Part 1b (to be clear, there is no longer a 'Part 1'). Thank you... Ralph Ralph Freshour www.GMTPilots.com
