June 14, 201411 yr As I sit here preparing for a multiplayer flight later today, it occurred to me that I have not purchased any addons for FSX in months, and I haven't 'tweaked' the sim in a few years. Everything looks great, runs smooth as silk, doesn't crash, and I have more planes that I will ever fly. If the 'next great thing' ever comes along I will of course have to take a look at it but it would have to be something so spectacular that it would change FSX, and I don't see that happening anytime soon. Salute to all the addon developers that have made my sim what it is today, THANKS doesn't seem enough! Jay
June 14, 201411 yr Hey Jay, I am in more or less the same frame of mind for both FSX and P3D on a broad basis. I'm weary of the same old fights, follies and fantasies. Too much negative drama and intrigue, in humans, machines and binary codes for me. There are enough programs and tweaks already that I can tinker with until the sun flames out. So, except for incremental improvements with any of the huge sheer number of software add-ons already purchased, I am done buying too. Right now the sim works well, and with new patches will only work better. Enough is enough and after many years, it's time. Other things with other people in real time and place deserve a much greater slice of my time talent and treasure. Thanks to my true respected friends and co-pilots together with whom I have discovered new programs. It's been great. I will try to post from time to time in topics of interest to irritate those who I am sure may wish otherwise. Kind regards,
June 14, 201411 yr Having just finished a full PC rebuild and reinstalled FSX plus a bit of stuff. I am thinking on the very same lines. Less is more. Arnie....if it ain't broke, don't fix it...

June 14, 201411 yr I was thinking the same thing lol. A few things I want, like the PMDG 747 V2 when it comes out and some more ORBX stuff, but otherwise I'm good to go. Haven't touched my configuration in 6 months, I've had no CTD's, maybe 1 or 2 OOM's, and 2 or 3 crashes but I know what caused them and it's been rectified. And I haven't bought anything in that time either. Just having fun...
June 14, 201411 yr I`ve been that was for some time as well. Except I have a heavy dose of Orbxland scenery and when a new region like Northern California comes out or an airport in my backyard, IE Squamish hits the market then I like to add them to my scenery. The unfortunate thing for me was the Squamish was very heavy on my older system, and next thing I knew I was back seeing what I could do to fix the issue. In the end I have gone back to my `default` setting, I am going to try disabling some scenery elements to see if it makes Squamish flyable but otherwise I will likely just delete if for now. I don`t want to do any more tweaks either. I see a new computer in the not too distant future and that may mean some more adjustment. June 14, 201411 yr I am getting ready to do a complete re-install. I will be leaving more than half my addons off this time. I will probably have less than 5 aircraft installed, time to fly , not fiddle. Ric Elmore
