considering buying a 757 for FS9

I have a feeling that those having had bad opinions on the CS757 may not be using the latest release 2.2. At least I hope... ^_^

Anyone updating to the last one will be nice enough to report. Thanks

This is not true.  The Captain Sim 757 is solid now.  All systems are modeled on the same level as the iFly 737.  You should love the final version of the CS757 at this point if you like the iFly 737.  I don't know how some can come in hear and tout the inferior PSS version which looks totally wrong in he cockpit as well as the external model.  System wise the PSS 757 may be decent but the CS version is better.  Try it out for yourself and report back.  What people are saying about it at this point is wrong (CS757).  The only draw back is you can't accelerate sim time with it which sucks for long haul flights.  I use the QW757 for flights over an hour as I can accelerate time with it.  The final version of the QW757 is good as well although not as in depth as the CS version.  In FS9 at this point the CS757 is the best you can get.  If you get it I'd love for you to report back your findings to help squash this false reporting of the product...

Les,

That is YOUR opinion. Just because someone else has a different opinion or view does not make them wrong. That's how some can come in here and tout the PSS version of the 757. I had the CS757 and it was IMO junk. My view. Now, after what you said I may have another look at it and see how it has been improved. Thanks for making me aware that there has been an update to the CS 75, as I have stopped following or even looking at their stuff.

It's not just my opinion,  anyone who has the latest version of the product knows it's a far cry from what it was...

Just buy it and see for yourself.  Most people now are using it in FSX which is a whole other can of worms.  I hear it's a dog in FSX...

Against my better judgement I did. Downloaded the plane (firewall anti-virus off) followed the installation instructions and thought I was all set. Discovered that the plane is in a "demo" mode and nothing works. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling multiple times but always the same "demo" mode. Captain Sim's FAQ say it's an anti-piracy thing. That's great except I paid.  I submitted a ticket with CS support but if past experience is any indicator, that won't end well.

Interesting...  I had no issue installing the latest version.  Give it a chance.  The plane itself is great but the support is a whole other issue.  I hope you get it working because you won't be disappointed...

Well I got out of demo mode, everything seems to work except I have no flight controls and cannot operate the brakes. All the hydraulics are powered but the flight controls will not work.  Can set flaps and adjust trim but that is all. Is there a way to assign keyboard and button controls? The Captain Sim drop-down menu is for ground power and bleed air only. What a hassle!

I have a sinking feeling the flight controls and brakes will not work because I have them mapped thru FSUIPC. Hope I'm wrong.

Whatever your setup is that works for iFly should work with the CS757 without issue. I'll go father in saying what works with the default 737 should work with the 757. Nothing special going on with the controls....

Dillon,

What is the problem with speed acceleration and CS757? Just lousy turns or uncontrollable turns resulting inevitabily in crash?

Strange that this addon, if as good as iFly has remained in the shadow...

I haven't made up my mind. I'll see how A320driver's experience goes!

I agree with what Dillon is saying. The CS757 may not be a PMDG 757, but it is certainly better (imho) than the QW757 because it has much more systems modelling, and I find the graphics and animations to be superior. I also don't find it to be "buggy". It is just as solid as my PMDG aircraft in terms of CTD's or sounds/graphics glitches.

EDIT:

I just realized this was the FS9 forum... oops! Anyways, what I said was meant for FSX.

FSX: PMDG 744/MD11/JS41/736/737/738/739, CS752/753/763/C130, SimCheck A300, Leonardo MD82, MJC DH8D, Aerosoft CRJ7/CRJ9/A318/A319/A320/A321, RAZBAM Metroliner, ORBX Global, FlyTampa KBUF/OMDB/TNCM/VHHX, ActiveSky Next

DCS: A-10C II/F-16C/AH-64D/F-15E/KA-50 III/Mi-24/Persian Gulf/Syria/F-15C

XP11: FF 752/753, iniBuilds A306, HotStart TBM900

That's exactly it... Just like the PMDG 744 and Level-D 767.

The controls problem was and old version of FSUIPC that was installed by the CS installer. Got that sorted. Now if I can just figure out why the IAS control knob goes nuts when you try to adjust the airspeed.

When I'm running short on time and need to get to Rio from KATL I need 16x.  That should tell you what I mean...  ^_^

I wouldn't use the CS757 for this route but since I inserted the LDS 767...

....... as real as it gets ..................

I had the exact same problem with the Captaim Sim C-130. I bought the plane, installed it and it was in demo mode. After un installing it (3 times) my activation code stopped working! I submitted a ticket with CS and asked mulitple time for help on their forums and all I got was the run around from them.

I managed to get it out of demo mode (not sure what happened that changed it) but it required multiple installs and then it was correct. The installer added an old version of FSUIPC which rendered my flight controls useless. Got that sorted and now am trying to figure out the speed control knob. Attempting to change the speed causes it to spin out of control. Same for the landing altitude knob on the overhead. Also discovered that apparently CS uses a different programming logic for the AP disconnect. Using the key I have programmed (thru FS9) the AP disconnects but the AP light stays lit and there is no alert that the AP has disconnected. Pressing the AP disconnect bar puts out the light and sounds the alert. Just seems like a lot of stuff to have to sort thru. Sorry, but I just don't see that this plane is even remotely close to the iFly 737.
