X-Plane 10.30 b4 available now...

I'll try to answer, later, from my sim PC, with a screen taken from IL2 BoS.... and another from Rise of Fight, where you even get your windshield spilled with droplets when entering some clouds, or flying low over water specially if another aircraft flies in front of you....

Both X-Plane 10 and MSFS / P3D are light-years away from what some combat flight sims can offer, in every respect... That's why I am 90% of my simmer time there these days...

But, before installing XP10.30 again, a few days ago, I also re-installed FSX because I read about the closure of GFWL and have the download version, and I had bought P3Dv2, and used the refund 4 days latter to buy RoF....

Honestly, there is still something that I prefer in X-Plane when it comes to the sensation of flight, even with the problems I have long been fighting.... FSX and P3D are definitely done for me... for good, although things might change when LM decides to redesign the sim and get it to a new ( maybe 64 bit ) platform....

Both have their shortcomings and good aspects. Weather in XP10 certainly needs more variables available for injection, and better visual effects, and while I acknowledge that the effects of wind gusts, shear, and even turbulence feel better in XP10 than in MSFS / P3D even with the best weather injectors for the latter, the amount of effects modeled using, for instance ASN is vastly superior to what we presently have in XP10...

As a glider pilot IRL, I  given up using either for simulating soaring and use Condorsoaring or SW. Thermals, and even ridge lift lack a lot of detail on both sims, but I agree that's way too speciic....

This discussion is heading in the wrong direction. I think all of the sims mentioned have their own forums. I fail to see why this continues to go on and on....some people need to be reminded this is the X-Plane forum.

He was using a plugin with really dark cloud shadows. As you can see from the pics I posted it's pretty bright.

Who's "he'?

You referring to me?

I certainly wasn't using any plugin that had "really dark cloud shadows" - What plugin even does that?

Absolutely agree with this.  It's the main thing that keeps me using XPX - It feels like flying!  Love that part!

Beta 5 just went online. Cosmetic changes.

Bugs fixed in beta 5 (coming soon):

  • 32-bit application on Mac OSX is working again
  • new GPS takes screen brightness from instrument brightness rheostat assigned in Plane Maker

Radek
